tacho problems

up date on my tacho problem, triumph replaced no charge parts and labour, so just like say good onya triumph oz. while i was waiting i took the tiger800xc for a spin, what a great little bike, i want one now just have to convince the missus that i need two bikes.

Tachometer

Bike was revving correctly but tachometer was revving at 3000 rpm .it did this for only the first twenty minutes of today's ride . It seems to have rectified itself . Just a bit strange seeing the tachometer redlining at 100kph in fifth gear .

gday peter, mine did the same thing but eventually it just read high and wouldnt return to normal, i checked all plugs, sensors etc, finally took it to the dealers. all ok now.

Mine still does it once in a while and has always fixed itself (fingers crossed). Did it on the way to Nabiac for about 50km and then returned to normal after my next stop.

Nice avatar Peter. Really suits you.

My Tac did some silly stuff once....called my Triumph dealer....shop manager

The bike ran fine, started OK....just the tac jumping all over the dial

He told me to check the battery terminals.

Behold the neg. terminal was just a bit loose.

I check the battery terminals often now.

Mine did the same thing when I got it. I believe it's the fuse for the heated grips. It has something to do with the tach when it does the initial sweep. Someone had replaced that fuse with one that has a little LED in it to show you when it's blown. I noticed the LED flashed for a second one day when I had the seat off and turned the key on. Replaced with a normal type fuse. No problems for about three years now.
