T bars and lifting the tank

this is what I do also and then use the prop wand or stick or whatever it's called to hold the tank up... :?:
Never had risers or Valk bars, but to raise my tank I now have to remove the seat, remove the long bolt at the rear of the tank rather than just loosen it, undo the front bolts and slip it backwards before I can raise it.

Tom's right on that one. I like it away from the bike as it is easier to see everything under the tank especially if you have extra goodies like I do. I just place a good size rag under it loosen the fule line and let the rag catch the fuel it has a check valve so all you loose is whats in the line. then I pull the bolt out and set the tank off tot the side leaned against the wall with the large end up. Realy gives you full view of everything. I have never changed the washer gasket just retorque when I put the tank back hasn't leaked in over 60,000 miles.

You know....

...I would really like to remove the tank in it's entirety one day, so I can really get in on there top of the engine and do some "dusting" and "cleaning" ;)

What is involved with disconnecting the fuel line(s). Is there a special tool needed for the fuel line fittings?

..I've never disconnected the fuel line on mine, but there is enough slack in the gas lines to be able to take the tank and sit it sideways on the frame where the seat goes..at least on mine..

Fuel line is connected with a banjo bolt and two crush washers. Nothing special needed. Make sure you do as Warp suggests and put a big rag or towel under it to catch the small amount of fuel that will run out.

What IS a pitta, when taking the tank off, is uncliping the cable plug ( to the fuel pump).Buggered if I know an easy way to unclip it.. Always gives me trouble:cry:
