Still baffled...

Mine are exactly the same. I was thinking about loading my original tune just to compare, so I'll probably do that now to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks.

P.s could it be related to A/F mixture? lean or rich even.

Possibly but take care not to jump around with conclusions do the map elimination test first as this would also alter the AFRs .. you need a PCv +AT mine runs sweet and performs great when I need power :)

Dennsell, I think I've just found the solution. Just come back up to my apartment after noticing that the air box plenum seal/ring clamp over the first throttle body was kinked at an angle and I'm sure was causing an air leak. Now I've re seated the air box correctly and carefully retightened the clamps. The engine started a little high but normal for a cold start and not as long as before. I let it run for a couple of mins. Turned off, then back on again and went straight to a 1000 rpm and quickly setled to 850ish.
I think there was the problem all along and I've just noticed it and fixed it.

Thanks Dennsell.

Good to hear mate.. that plenum is a pig of a thing to fit and it has to be perfectly sealed and tight on all joint.. glad your maybe in the ball park now :D

Not totally sure on it tho' as it would be before the throttle bodies

Hopefully in the right ball park. just came back from a ride, so I'll let her cool down now until tomorrow and start her up again and see what happens.

I'll update tomorrow with my findings, if it really is fixed or not.

Dennsell, do the 3xk&ns get wet under the claw when you wash the bike? It just seems to me that they would.

Thanks, Ben

Hope you fixed it...re K&Ns this question has been raised before and nobody I no of has any issues with water on the triples mate.. we all ride in heavy rain from time to time... no problems... just don't swamp them :)

Thanks for the update on the triples.

Went out for another ride this morning, and the start up is much better. Just does a kind of cold start warm up procedure for a few seconds but then drops down. Before was too high and too long and I believe it was due to the plenum not seated properly. If I turn on when engine is warm, goes to correct idle more or less immediately.

The beast has been tamed! For the time being anyway.

Your time and patience is much appreciated.:)
