Some pretty cool Police Officers

"What the police have degenerated into over my sixty years is truly frightening:eek:, as well as sad.:("

Perhaps you overlooked the timeline inferred?
Your grandfather as well as your father mostly pre-date the "degeneration" of which I speak. Your quick pre-judgement of me as "one of them" is the reason a defense attorney would likely exclude you in a jury selection.

Everyone's life matters! Stuff is getting touchy. There's good and bad. Most are a mix of both. That applies to cops as well. I have been impressed with the new generation so far. They really want to make a difference. I like to see them keep it as long as they can. The fire always seems to go out too quickly.

Maybe, just like the majority of the Blacks (or anyone of any color) that you are obviously referring to (BLM, most likely) YOU are doing something to cause these officers to "jack you"...... which is a typical term used by dishonorable blacks - NOT to be confused with honorable blacks. to which there are many :whitstling:
My Grandfather was a Tyler PD for 37 years, my father a State Trooper and Tyler PD.
You sir, can GFY
As a former police officer I know all too well that a large majority of people who genuinely dislike the police usually, not always, have had prior contact with law enforcement whether it be a few citations or custodial arrests. Are police officers perfect? No. There are some that have no business being an officer. But, there are many more that are honorable, honest people that want to make their communities safe and better places to live. There's bad apples in every profession, we just don't see or hear about it as often as we do the police. If I happen to get stopped on my way home from work at 2 am the last thing I'm going to be is a bit pissed off. I'm just glad there's an officer out patrolling at that time of the morning. It's nice to know he's not sitting in the office watching youtube videos while drunks are trying to drive home or thieves are braking into someone's garage.

!

It's the very reason cops are distrusted as much as they are in America. If they can't jack you directly they'll find a way "passive-aggressively". I fully understand why Blacks hate and distrust the police as they do. I needed to call for an officer to my home about ten years ago. Instead of easily/quickly ameliorating the problem I called about, the cop conspicuously took nearly an hour trying to find a reason to jack ME.
They have devolved into a goon-squad of fully militarized pathological bullies, and some ARE certifiable homicidal sociopaths using their badge as immunity.

I was raised 'white' middle-class with a criminal defense attorney as a father. Respect for law and the police was a sacrament in my Republican upbringing. But so too was 'critical thought' along with more than a layman's understanding of common law. What the police have degenerated into over my sixty years is truly frightening:eek:, as well as sad.:(

Criminal Defense lawyers DO NOT much respect the cops. In fact, they do their best to tear them down personally and what they do.
You stated "former deputy neighbor" meaning to me not working as a cop or honorably retired.

Perhaps your neighbor grew tired of he and his family being forced to smell your MJ?
Get your own house or grow a little consideration for your neighbors.
Were I the landlord and I received complaints from other occupants, I would insist you stop smoking the dope in your apartment.
I would then give you one more chance before ejecting you. This is purely a business decision, as all the other renters are more important than just one that is causing problems.
PS: and you think this former guy's actions have anything to do with the character of all working coppers??? WTF?

Isn't that deformation of character . Surely he is way overstepping the mark casting dispersions on your character ? Especially if it wasn't proven . I would be writing a stern letter !

NO, IT IS NOT remotely defamation of character!
Merely the notification to the landlord of a neighbor's activity that is affecting the quality of life in his apartment house.

I feel about the same. I did have a bad run in a couple of months ago with a bad apple but for the most part I have had some good experiences with local law enforcement. I do get a good laugh out of police profiling. I have very long hair and red plates on my bike. (CREEK). #ell if I was a cop out patrolling at that hour I would pull myself over. Most of the time I just get a wave or a flash of lights by the locals as a way of saying hello, especially in the dead of winter. :p:p:p:p:p:p

Please excuse the stereotyping and generalization @sonny but with that description and your earlier posts, images of 'Billy Jack', one of my favourite movies as a kid spring to mind.

good friend of mine left the oilfield to become a local city cop he said he was going to pull over every crew of roughnecks over he saw asked him why he was one of us not to long ago he replied yep that's why he was going to pull them over it was an easy arrest one out of them was going to have a warrant drugs or was drinking could not argue with him he was right

Somebody has to do it. Maybe that line of work really attracts some rough individuals but my hat is off to the folks that run the rigs.:):):):)

Rough and tough work requires rough and tough men!
Time spent working undercover within various segments of the criminal population (including outlaw bikers) taught me there are decent folk in ALL walks of life.
NOBODY deserves to be pulled over simply because of their appearance, dress, hair or dirty face!
PERIOD! I never did and I made more criminal arrests than most.

Just sayin' . . .
