OK, problem solved.
Once Andrew "5 Rockets" Causer confirmed I had the correct bolts in the correct locations I still could not get the last short bolt to go in.

I ended up having to loosen all 19 others and drop the pan 1/8 inch in order to get the remaining short bolt in the bottom rear to thread in.

Then I started the long one in the middle hole indicated in my diagram and proceeded to snug all 21 up and then tighten them.
I have to replace the O-Rings on the Oil Tank and refill the oil but I think I'm all set with the sump for another 50,000 miles.
Thanks again Andrew!

I hate it when it's something as simple as the hole being misaligned causes so much angst, aggravation and wasted time...

Well, I got thrown off reading other posts about two bolts and I removed 3 but was second guessing myself and the 1 of 20 had a washer too. Dealer must have put a different one on.

Plus I have 3 different Service Manuals.
servicemanual.pdf shows a sump diagram with oil drains at the ends but missing the scavenge tube.
rocket_iii_service_manual.pdf is basically the same as servicemanual.pdf
Service_Manual_R3S_C_T.pdf shows the correct diagrams = Exploded View - Sump - up to Engine Number 217501

None show where the longer bolt goes (it is the 'middle one').

Most of the dealer websites are not clear on how many of the shorter bolts are needed. Some say 1 one said 18.
Only World of Triumph showed the correct count needed = 20.

It was a good learning experience but I was glad to have a backup bike to get away when I got frustrated and ride with friends over the holiday weekend.

Im glad you did it, warp is always saying clean the screens people, lookin forward to seeing you in wv i was gonna get some tips for the Road Trip if i could

Wish I would have seen this post sooner. I went through the same thing a few months ago. Bought all new bolts and a gasket. I had a hell of a time getting all the stuck on gasket off. Other than that had no problems. My owners manual was good a showing where that long SS Bolt went.

Glad you got it done. I had no such junk under my screens. (a bit is all). So that's a good thing you did!
