Hello,
Bike: 2005 - early VIN
Engine# : 214513 - early
Background: I decided to drop my sump to have a look-see (glad i did the screens were really bad).
I believe I removed 3 THREE 8mm bolts (2 short one long??) from the underside near the kickstand and Cleaned everything, put on a new gasket and started reassembly.
Issue: I am having a problem with the last two bolts and the manual is unclear as to what goes where.
Q1. Does BOLT,RHHF,DOMED S/LESS M6X50 - the long one, go in the hole near the tank drain as indicated below?
It WILL fit there just fine but WILL NOT fit in the last open hole.
Q2. The last small BOLT,RHHF,M6X1.0X25,SLV left will not fit in the remaining hole either (too small a diameter).
Strangely, it has a washer but the other 18 did not. The OEM diagram indicates none of them should have had it...
Did I mix up a bolt?
Q3. If i need a different bolt what size is that left hand hole?
Thanks in advance.
5/27/20 UPDATE: The locations in my picture are correct.
When you start to reinstall the sump pan leave 1/8th inch gap and install all 21 bolts.
Then hand tighten all 21 and then torque all 21 to spec - 12nm.
The next one will take me 2 hours instead of 3 days.
Here was what it looked like before cleaning. It's hard to tell but there is a yellowish film over everything and the filters are 80% blocked.
I think these are pieces of the torsional damper bearing that went bad many years ago.
I'm hoping this mess was left by the dealer and not anything new.
