I lost the side panel on the right side when sitting on my 2011 touring.. It fell off going down the highway. Does anyone have one they want to sell? Or know of any aftermarket ones??? or where get one at a good price. Seems way to costly from dealer....

If you do a search on this site, you'll see that I ran into the same problem a while back. Yup, the R3T side panels are expensive and don't come up on eBay too often.

My advice: Bite the bullet and buy it thru Bike Bandit (or another online site). I receive a discount @ BB so I bought it there. OEM parts for about 25% off dealer price.

Just fyi: while I was contemplating what to do and waiting for one to pop up on eBay, I crafted my own temp replacement. I will not post a photo of that monstrosity, as some things really are best forgotten...my friends and family were embarrassed to ride with me and took up a collection to pay for a new one!

Good luck.

Just lost my side panel on my 2011 R3T

Got to work today and noticed my right side panel came off. I have had it off several times and noticed that it never seemed to have a tight fit made sure that all 3 studs were seated in the grommets..

Just another little issue like Triumphs Heated Grips throttle cam breaking off......

that's one thing I like about the standard/classic /roadster models the side panels r bolted on the way they should be on all models imo. As suggested above id try ebay I got two phantom black ones in brand new condition for a standard from there when another owner switched his out for chrome ones

And they are steel:rolleyes:

I cannot believe Triumph has the side panels held on with grommets on the R3T!!
My 07 Classic has them bolted on securely. Why go from excellent to iffy? Cannot understand the factory!

Probably 'cos someone moaned to customer services about having to use a spanner to remove the side panels. :p

Yeah, a couple of odd design changes for the R3T. The side panels are held on by a few cheesy rubber grommets but the seat is bolted on.

I don't recall ever riding down the road worrying about my seat blowing off.

I lost one of my grommets on my old R3T didn't noticed it had popped out when I replaced the cover after removing the battery tender. I noticed the cover was loose on the ride that day.fortunately my wife was with me so she held her leg tight against the cover till we got home.
I ordered extras, but never had any more problems cuz I always checked em twice when reinstalling them after that.
