I came across this on ebay and wondered of anyone has experience with it. I hear that cutting and splicing the existing wires has side effects, does this eliminate the switch and the side effects too?

Riding off down the road with the sidestand down can have side effects too. I'd keep the switch, it's a small inconvenience for a big safety gain.

But to answer your question it is just a digital switch so won't matter. Just need to know if it's normally open or normally closed loop and either open or close the circuit.
