I have just sold my used Utopia one but if you want a rider's backrest with your two piece Roadster rider's seat just buy a rider backrest in the USA from Utopia @Dr.D same fitting etc as 2004 - 2009 Standard. It attaches to the pillion seat bracket as pics show above.

If you want a brand new Dual Classic seat with the Triumph factory rider's backrest I have both sitting at Kevin's in TN.

These fit all R3 2 headlight models from 2004 - 2018
CLASSIC TOURING SEAT - DUAL A9708164 and Adjustable Rider Backrest A9708160
These though are not the best seat /backrest combo for chubby or BIG taller riders over 6'2" on later R3 Roadsters with mid pegs as they were designed for the fwd pegs of the 2004-2009 R3 Std/Classic and tend to push the rider fwd in relation to tank and pegs.

You should be right though @Dr.D as your slim! ;)

If you want to use a Utopia on your 2 piece seats without having a pillion you will need to get a NLA RIVCO Solo rack to replace the pillion seat frame/bracket like I did.

The good news is Custom Triumph in the UK make copies of the rack now in polished stainless and Black powdercoat.

I like th stock seat I have on it now and have a small bag attached to the strap which I want to keep. I’m just looking for a small backrest. Is that sat at Kevin’s the same one I have on the Roadster now? If so I might buy the whole thing just have the backrest. If it is smaller or pushes me forward more than my present seat it might not work.? What do you think?

I’ve re-read the whole thread and I’m still confused. I may want that seat system in TN if it is like the one I have. I might have the padding reworked if I had two seats alike just to experiment.

If you have a stock 2 part seat (separate Rider and Pillion) on your Roadster you cannot use the Triumph factory rider's backrest unless you have a special custom bracket. I have only ever seen one and know who had it before me, but not sure if it was made by him or someone else.

The one is TN will fit your Roadster but obviously it is a one piece Dual seat with the same optional backrest as in pics below (without the custom bracket). It bolts to bracket/seat from below with 4 bolts same as it does on the seats.

Again, cheapest and easiest option for a R3 Roadster Rider's separate seat is the Utopia made in and for a good shipped price in USA. Shipping Internatonal is not cheap.

With fwd controls you would probably leave seat where it is as it is a pretty big stretch with them on and you would tend to sit lower in the seat. If I went that way I would fit and try first before getting seat mods.

I have an unused USA sourced set of Refined Cycle Rocket III fwd controls in my storage.
FC17 Forward Controls for Triumph Rocket III Roadster, Classic, Standard & Rocket X

They move your feet forward about 11" on the Roadster model and about 5.5" on the Standard and Classic models for a much more comfortable ride!

I like the position of your rear brake pedal. Did you have to modify anything to get it that high? Mine seemed to run out of adjustment before I could raise it that far.

They are images from Refined Cycles listing. I have never fitted mine.

Gday guys, I've done a lot of searching but have found it to be quite confusing.. im after a stock seat for my 2014 roadster so i can have it re shaped and upholstered. ive found a couple of touring seats on ebay but don't know if they'll fit?

I was going to post in classified but am not sure what to ask for? Ive also looked for new seats but have heard very mixed reviews for the money spent on corbin etc.

Preferably in Australia 👍

Thanks in advance.
Hello, I have a standard Roadster seat of my 2012 model which I replaced with King n Queen from New. I don't need the original of that would work for you. I'm in Bundaberg 0438292451. Cheers, Ellbeeare

I have the two piece seat so I’ll look at the Utopia, thanks.

Naming of R3 seats is a pitfall for newcomers and oldcomers alike.
Before the 2008 R3 Touring (R3T) model with different frame, wheels and single headlight many Triumph accessory seats for the 2 headlight 2004-2018 Std/Classic/Roadster range had 'Touring' in their product names. After the single headlight model came out these names continued in use for some accessories.

R3T seats will not fit the 2004-2018 Std/Classic/Roadster range or vice versa.

There are about 8 different Triumph seats for the 2004-2018 Std/Classic/Roadster range.

Generally taller riders need a taller seat but with ability to lean back. Really tall folks can happily use aftermarket Fwd controls if they are happy to be without crash bars. Rider's backrest are a real boon for comfort and can make a reasonable seat much better.

Best Factory R3R Dual seat is the Classic Dual with hole for rider's backrest. The backrest has not been available from dealers for many years.

I have a brand new old stock set of the seat and backrest in the USA awaiting bundling in a shipment.

Best /cheapest option for you is to firstly get a rider's backrest to improve your stock riders seat hugely.
Utopia in USA make a rider's backrest option for Dual and Solo R3 seats.
The rider's seat pictured is a Solo Gel but is identical in shape etc to your stock 2014 Roadster Solo with a stock 2004-2009 'Bread loaf' pillion on rear.

I have a used Utopia here in my shed.

Then if you want to go ahead get a second hand rider's Solo seat and have it re-upholstered at a specialist motorcycle seat re-builder.

I think @adelaideVMC may want to sell his Utopia backrest and separate Triumph Gel Rider's Solo and Gel wide Pillion seats.
Yes. Yes he does !
Thanks for the plug Mr Ishrub :)
