I rode something else the got my interest this weekend

We went for a ride to see some fall color and ended up in Hopkinsville, KY. Stopped in a Victory store that was offering rides on the Cross Country and Cross Country tourer. I have to say being 6'4" this bike impressed the hell out of me. Two levers and speaker plug and the trunk comes off. It had 2 vents on each side of the fairing that could be opened or closed, cruise, heated seats and grips, ipod connections with stereo. They come out with 97 hp and 100 ft torque, but with a few mods you can get the hp up to 120 even 140. Owner had a 140 hp cross country.

The tourer listed for 21k. That seat was the most comfortable factory seat I ever sat on.

One other thing...they have NEVER had a bike come back for warranty work.

Elvis, I appreciate the fact that you had a decent test ride on a Victory but all that "higher" HP isn't worth a crap unless it get's water cooled. The bike will be a heat trap on a hot day...at least with the Rocket (or the Gold Wing for that matter) you get more power and torque "standard" for whatever heat you may or may not experience.

Also I take it with a grain of salt when a dealer says he has "never" had a bike come in for warranty work...just doesn't happen...on the other hand...I wouldn't expect him to say anything less...I just wouldn't believe him.

It is nice to hear of a bike coming with a "comfortable" seat...but then again it depends on the rider...almost any motorcycle seat is not a "one size fits all" seat. Some are just lucky enough to be of the right size that the manufacturer had in mind for that seat when they designed it.

G'day Rocketeers

Good to get a couple of replies and input already.

Taking into account us Qld locals 500k Radius, I agree we can just pack and go a moments notice meet up and have a cracker of a weekend, piece of piss. And I'm up for it any time, what do ya reckon pick a date, spot & lets do it. What you think of Cooyar.

One pub lets you camp in big back yard, has all the facilities you need. Been there a few times great relaxing get away. So tell me when and I'm there lets the locals have a meet and greet, and I'm up for something like this any time.

Not wanting to sound a cock bastard every one that mentions seeing a few rockets on a ride how many is there, usually between 5 to 10 tops. (rarely over 5)

What I am trying to do is give plenty of advance notice for any rocket rider in Australia to get as many as we can in one place at one time. I have been to **** loads of bike rally and what do you see the most of?, Harleys, surely we can get just as many if not more Trumpys than the bloody Harleys.

As we all know the rocket is the biggest production bike around as those that have them love them, lets show our rockets off. I would like to see as many as possible 100's of them, and you can't organise that with a few days notice.

We use the R3owners to make a few mates, talk ****, and help each other out with our mods & cons. For those of us that live in a local area we can have a get together any time.

1000k's for me to go for a ride and meet up in a place is a days ride, but we have to respect the riders that travel at a far more relaxed pace, and need a bit of time to get things organised.

Local boys drop me a line pick the spot I tossed in Cooyar, if you got another one ok by me. Saturday fortnight where do you wanna ride to I'm easy.

THE ABOVE POST IS FROM BIG MARTY ABOUT A AUSSIE RIDE, WHICH WE PLAN OM ATTENDING! JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW, SO THEY CAN PLAN THEIR SCHEDULS!!!

Dennis, I appreciate your insight.

I have had these bikes and none ever came back for warranty work:

91 goldwing
97 Valkyrie
99 Valkyrie

There was a 95 Harley in that bunch that spend more time at the shop than in my garage. All were purchased new. So I know there are bikes out there that can go without warranty work.

Yeah...but they are Honda's:D...big difference.

All kidding aside...I might believe an owner but not a dealer...especially of the air cooled engine variety.
