Rocket laid up until spring

All the best Mike. Prayers for the operations, enjoy the warmth of a nice fire with a whisky or two over the winter, and try to cut back on the skiing.

Thanks my friends. It will be the first time in over 40 years that I've not ridden least once during the winter.

I'm not looking forward to the ordeal but it's gotta happen if I'm going to keep functioning and be able to do the things I enjoy most in life. And as noted, others have experienced it so I'll just be added to the list.

Mike, it's not as bad as it might seem. You'll be up and around in a couple of days but the rest is down to you. It is as good as you want it to be and no less! Care and consideration and you'll be back on the bike in 6 weeks without any misgivings. Should be able to walk to the pub in 3 weeks.. not sure about the way home though:roll::roll:

Many of my friends, including one about three days ago, had the knee replacement surgery and all say the same thing; pay attention to the physical therapist and do the exercises. I assumed that while I will be well on the way to recover, that riding the big bike might put undue strain on the new knee. I'm glad that you have suggested otherwise. The doc said the new therapy is to have the patient on his feet and walking within three hours of the surgery. My friend who just had both done said he walked four times about the hospital floor, assisted, the same day as his surgery.

Ian, the doc told me to stay off the giant slalom course for about two weeks and lay off the booze until I'm off the pain meds. Actually, I'm going to take this opportunity to shed some of my extra pounds, which means, no alcohol until Spring, perish the thought. When I was hospitalized in March of 2017 for a blood clot in the lung, I lost five pounds in three days. Thus I hope to not only be back fully on my feet but down to what I weighted in 2015.
