Rocket 3 wobble after new Metzeler tires — previous set was perfect

Hi Rocketeers!

My Rocket 3 R 2020 has about 50,000 km on it, and I usually get around 10,000 km out of a set of tires. After installing a new set of Metzeler tires (same model as before), I’m now getting a wobble from around 50 km/h.

It comes and goes in a repeating pattern: roughly 50–100 meters of clear wobble, then it disappears, then it comes back again. It starts noticeably at the front and moves through the bike.

Dealer took it for a test ride but couldn’t reproduce it. Front wheel declared fine. Rear wheel rebalanced on a simple stand with a few grams corrected.

What makes this odd: the previous Metzeler set was flawless — zero wobble.

Anyone experienced this kind of speed‑dependent wobble after a tire change?

Yipp - known issue. The tire has to be turned on the wheel, I would start with 90 degrees.

As I do not know where your tires are coming from and I also do not know if there are any differences in the tires around the world: check, if there is a position indicator in relation to the valve. This normally defines a position vice versal to it. Some tire producers indicate it to balance the additional weight due to the valve (caused by the TPMS).

In any case: it comes from the tire and is based on an unbalance in the tire itself.
