Removed Sump Pan

Just a followup on a previous problem with an oil leak from my sump pan. Started replacing it tonight and thought I would share a few photos to compare the two just in case someone else has to go here. When you look close at the design there are a lot of places to hold crap - I'm sure it was good design intent. Now that I see just how thin the casting is I am leary about jacking it up with out very good overall support.

It's thin but it's ribbed and that makes it rigid and strong. Most pressure die castings are thin and that's why it's ribbed. I'd not fear jacking the bike on the sump plate so long as you lift it on two crosswise runners like a motorcycle jack. AS single point hydraulic or screw jack would go right through the casting.

I have been using my Motorcycle/ATV jack to lift and spin my Rocket for 2years plus, now you are going to have me paranoid THANKS.

Don't fret. When you open my album on the link just click on the name and you can see I use a modified motorcycle jack to lift by the two frame projections and let the motor rest on the pan.
