ramair cracked

Here is the pics of mine
That's the worst I've seen. Reinforces my thought that it's the high point on the throttle bodies and the clamp combine to make a pinch point. With time it wears through. May be if they make them with a groove that corresponds with the high point on the throttle bodies they'd stay on and wouldn't split.

Where it gets cut half way down corresponds with the high point on the throttle bodies. Pull your intake off and have a look you'll see what I'm talking about.

This makes a lot of sense, especially if the person installing them doesn't seat them 100% flush and then further puts the hose clamp on the outer edge rather than pushed flush against the filter itself. The hose clamp squeezes the lip of the filter, and then especially if the installer overtightens it could just cause a lot of stress and eventually shear. Of course this is total speculation.

This is the first failure I've seen on the forums. Any chance this was just a freak failure??

I really hope my ramair stays intact. What did you have installed on a r3t?
There has been 10 failures that I know of. If everyone has a good look there will be more.

Mine was seated 100% flush and the clamps were on straight and not on the lip of the filter and it split along with about 10 others.

Neville Lush fitted mine last and I have used the original Triumph clamps. Now I also put some vacuum hose on the threaded part between the ends of the clamps so it is impossible to over tighten and Neville ( bless his cotton socks ) knows a thing or two about clamping filters. Pretty sure @dave64 was the bike I looked at during RDU and they went all the way down the throttle bodies. He does know a thing or two about rubber due to his occupation as he stated.
