R3T Transmission problems

Got a call from my dealer today to come pick up my bike. They got the clutch spring replaced. The reason it took so long is that when we went to unload the bike from the trailer, the service manager noticed that I had a lot of movement in the handlebars. They checked it out and found that the riser bushings were shot. They ordered new ones (Covered by Triumph. What a great company!). However, they got the wrong parts. They got the risers for a classic. Rather than keeping the bike until the new ones come in, since the bike is my mode of transportation and I have been carpooling, they fixed the clutch and we will schedule an appointment when the new parts are in. Can't wait to ride again.
And I'll have the new seat (ordered the new Longhaul w/driver back rest) when I get her back.

I had the same problem on my 08 R3. Dealer fixed it 2 weeks out of warranty. The dealer said he had done 5-6 detent spring repairs in the last couple of years.
Its about 4 hours labour if you have to pay.

I'm having issues with my '06 Rocket. from 1 to 2 gear it likes to hit neutral. This last weekend it jumped out of 2 gear and slipped in 3 gear. I know this year has had problems with the transmissions. Has any one tried to put the upgrade in by themselves?

All these issues mentioned, and the small dealer network make me start to believe my rocket is a bar hopper. I should use my road king as a long haul trip bike. Scary to think I could be in yellow stone, and have some bs start 2,000 miles from a dealer.

I have had mine apart to do the tranny work installing the update kit is a breeze. It does however sound like yours migh be the detent spring. 4 hour job with beer if you have never done it before less then 2 hours is what it takes me.

Update kits require pulling the motor the detent replacement does not. You should order a clutch hub nut with the detent spring, and clutch cover gasket. Sense it is a 06 I would change to the larger lifter piece in the clutch.
