Help 2008 r3 touring not starting

Bought all new injectors from Triumph, $720 mechanic said the old one's i sent out were all bad and not spraying, also got the $60 fuel filter, hopefully this works, also he did a compression test and found #2 low around 160psi thinking it's a tight valve as that intake was black and it was backfiring out of the throttle body's. I'll keep you informed, he's putting in the injectors today, hopefully it starts, then going to check valve clearance 😉
Good luck. The valve clearance does go down as the mileage piles up due to wear on the valve seat. If he needs to do a valve adjustment that's going to be some additional coin, however the engine will run like new when he's done.

Yeah I ordered a aftermarket shim kit $100 from Dime 20 shims, getting a Ram Air filter $211 fromram air, and valve cover and fuel pump/tank gaskets $65 from Triumph, this is getting costly, hopefully it works great and runs great for some time to come. Mechanic said it is running rich so I figured the ram air should help that out, might get it remapped on a dyno when all said and done, throttle body adjustments and adaptation, thinking it's rich because I just reinstalled the map and it's adapting. I think I'll try nells tune one more time and go 3 hour ride to the nearest highway and see how it performs, no tracks close by. Everything is 20 to 35 mph around here that's why I mainly use a scooter and Nells tune was way to rich for here. I'm already into it for about $1,500 counting the mechanics time so far, I figured a couple more hours for valve adjustments and all I owe is the mechanic for the valve adjustment.

Changing the intake won't solve running rich as the restriction is the exhaust. Remapping to a leaner fuel table is probably the ticket, however you can put on a less restrictive exhaust system (or silencers) and that will also lean out your mix with the current tables. Once it's all sorted it should just need fuel and oil changes for the next 30K miles.

Yeah I have the cat delete pipe and tours slip ons on it, do you still think that is too restricted exhaust for the ram air and Nels tune? I think that's the tune I have

There are several Nels 20368, there different, i ran the one done by Bob R its in the tune description who done it, clavingers was for headers i believe. Both great depending on your settup. You probably need the one that says by Bob r

It's about efficiency of the gas flow. The intake is affected by the exhaust's eduction of fresh air thru the throttle bodies. In car EFI systems there's a Mass Air Flow Sensor that computes the volume of fresh air in the combustion chamber. The same thing is done with the intake plenum pressure sensor and ambient air temperature sensor in the ECU of the Gen 1 Rockets. If the fuel injection is running rich that can be attributed to the fuel maps adding too much fuel for the expected conditions in the combustion chamber. There are two approaches to correcting this, one is change the map being used by the ECU for fueling, or two, increase the total volume of fresh air in the combustion chamber. Changing only the intake air filter alone will not change the total mass of oxygen in the combustion chamber because the filter (unless heavily restricted) doesn't determine the air volume. What does determine it is the vacuum in the cylinder and exhaust plenum to draw fresh air in and expell spent gas. The more spent gas remaining in the combustion chamber the less oxygen to burn the fuel. Atmosphere is 79% nitrogen and 21% oxygen, which means only 21% of the volume can burn the fuel present. So getting rid of more spent gas will allow more fuel to be burned. To increase the air flow means increase the vacuum in the exhaust plenum (collector) to draw more air thru the throttle bodies. Your cat delete and slip-ons have improved that to whatever degree they can achieve, so it's now either change the fuel maps used by the ECU or invest in a less restrictive/higher efficiency exhaust system. The key to maximizing the vacuum in the exhaust system is calculating where the expansion chamber must be in relation to the exhaust stroke. This is probably getting more into the weeds than you want to know, but suffice to say, try putting in a different map and compare how it's running to current conditions (you can always go back to the current map). It's the cheapest route when you consider what a complete new exhaust system will set you back.

Is this the Nels tune from Bob R your talking about, cause I think that's what I have loaded 20368?
