Ok, everyone here seems to know how to calculate how many miles per gallon they are getting.
How do I figure out mine? is there an easy way? a special mathematical formula?

I just fill up to the top plate in the tank set the the trip meter to zero and ride to the next fill, note the fuel refill and trip milage and divide fuel and distance for a rough idea, to be exact with a measured amount of fuel in a connected remote container over a measured distance is to much work for me.. :D

Certainly all bikes are different and mileage will increase or decrease according to mods and how you ride. Interestingly, on our recent trip to go to Cobba's (RIP) funeral, Hanso and I got exactly the same mileage. Each time we filled up we each took pretty much the same fuel. Coming home having filled up together our fuel lights came on within sedconds of each others and when we filled up we took the same amount of fuel (within 100ml). We we riding together at the same speed and, appart from some hooning on Hanso's part (passing at 200+ km/h, 1 wheel salute etc), we rode pretty much the same all the way.

Our bikes are quite differently modded though. He has headers and Staintunes, I have std manifold and TORS, he has PCV + AT and custome tune, I have Dobeck and TORS tune, I have GiPro + ATRE, he doesn't, he runs darkside (245/50) and I run a Bridgestone MT 245/55. The other difference is that Hanso weighs in at, well let's say, a tad more than my athletic 80kgs. Our odometers were different slightly but we know we covered the same distance.

Arguably - well he'd say so - his bike has more grunt than mine but as we were running at the same speed that's not particularly relevant here. Interesting I reckon. I'd have to give the points to Hanso I suppose because the huge weigh differential................. :p:p:p I dare say that the outcome would have been different if we'd been flogging them.

When the bike was new (09 rocket3t) it was getting 40-42+ mpg,I added TORS ,k& n remap, and a big ass car tire now I' m getting 33- 35 mpg the extra power is worth it..........sandman

I've got to figure out how to change my cruise target A/F ratios in my PCV. I know Dynojet basically makes a map with all target F/A ratios at 13.0-1 and richer. I think I get around 30 MPG. But I don't ride 50 to 60 MPH. I run around 75MPH. I like roll on torque, so I like to turn the right grip clockwise a lot! Maybe that's why I need a rear tire at 5,000 miles! :D

Its better than my truck... 18mpg... So I am not complaining.. I get anywhere from High 20s with all in town driving to as high as like 40 something out at sturgis last year..

My R3T has TORS and underseat K&N. I have a Tuneboy and downloaded the TORS tune. Everything else is stock. Long distancce cruising on the highway at an indicated 70 - 75mph, I get 40 to 42 mpg. Around town driving, the mileage changes considerably. I get anywhere from 28 to 34. The fuel in my area has 10% ethynol in it. That clearly does NOT help fuel mileage. If I hot rod the bike around town, that will also impact the mileage. Quality of fuel is another factor.

I attribute the 02 sensor for the great highway mileage when doing long distance cruising. I guess I really cannot complain about fuel mileage remembering that we are being powered by a 2300cc lump.

I really liked the analogy that was stated earlier that we basically have a Harley engine but with one additional cylinder and piston. Looking at it from that perspective, I feel pretty good about the mileage! :)
