Quality Oil really does make a difference

So did you change the oil on the bike or did you only change the shaft drive oil in the rear of the bike? Isn't the smoother shifting associated with changing the oil in the rear gear? Also, how much oil does it take back there?

Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 Cheap, available in every autoparts store.

What came out was stout... what went is was Miller light.

The ends of the drain bolt had no visible or palpable residue.

Should be done at least one a year with the brake fluid purge.

You are correct.....the trans. is included in the engine oil change...it is all one

The rear end has very little heavy gear oil....can't remember just how much it takes??
Oops.....Dang I read your post wrong ChicagoRocket....Engine oil and Trans. oil is one and the same oil..the engine oil lube the crank case, crank shaft, pistons, clutch disk and all the trans. gears ...Plus...all that good stuff inside of the engine
The drive shaft should be greases with a good water proof grease and the rear end gears is like 75W to 105W oil....I think.

There are much better guys that knows this stuff way better than this Ol'man...

Sorry for my mistake in reading your post

Oil capacity dry fill including filter 5.9 liters (first time)
Oil capacity wet fill including filter 5.4 liters. (normal oil and filter change)

Dam. Was hoping the Motus link someone posted on here via amazon would be enough. But that's only 4 liters.

Ya I usually buy 6 bottles whether quart or liters I was looking at a Motus for sale but at that price I would go for a supercharge Kawasaki first :D

Lol. Sorry I meant motula. My local triumph dealer is selling the motus. They have a demo model everyone can ride.

I use the same oil, Motul 15W-50, on Lushy's recommendation, and have to agree, it is the best oil I have ever used in all my Rockets. Sweeter shifting gearboxes, and smoother running engines.
Yes I remember Nev talking about it and how he was seeing less scoring on wrist pins and wrist pin holes on the pistons. Also after talking to Mega Cycle cams it was one of the oils they talked highly about it along with the Red Line. I started with the Red Line because I could actually buy it off the shelf in my area and at the time I needed a oil change before I went on a trip. Theirs smells kind off sweet like the Motul does.
