Popping on de-accelerate with off road pipes

my two cents worth, and thats not much. My 05 rocket was left with all stock equipment and never had decel popping and 38-40 mpg. Now this new 07 classic (all stock setup) has decel popping out the wazzu. and is only giving me 33 mpg. rademis
There was a poll some time ago taken to access MPG. I was miffed that with a stock Tourer Classic I was only getting 33.5 both before and after TB tuning with a no-pop senior tune. I since loaded a HOT TuneBoy tune, until about 100 miles ago. The Hot tune dropped mileage down to the high side of 29. I'll save that tune for Rallies and go back to the senior. It only takes 15 minutes to load, which includes a follow-up 12 minute tune. It's only time and it make me feel good :)

I believe mine has popping on decel even when it was bone stock. It was just muffled more with the stock mufflers. I run TORs/ cat by-pass and a PC-III now and am very pleased.

The fur ball removal was my first "upgrade". And immediately I had the decel rumble. The TB is the only other performance mod I have and the "no-pop senior" has taken that out. The header choke point makes any "performance" pipes no more out-performing than stock bologna muffs., IMO; all you're getting is a need to wear ear plugs. If there is any increased flow it's negligible, IMO. I'm still waiting to be convinced otherwise.

The no-pop senior was built onto a Tors and Fur Ball Removed tune, I believe it was a 20050, derived by a member here-in following a Dyno tune. The no-pop portion was also submitted by a member with participation from tuneboy his self. It a compilation. Speaking of compilations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8avOiTUcD4Y

I would say anthing short of plugged pipes would flow better than the stock mufflers, but you are right, the stock exhaust "LOG" as hombre and flip have coined it is the cheapest, easiest to produce piece of crap Triumph could have possibily come up with. I still say it resembles a row of three urinals. All it needs is to say "SLOAN" on the tops... lol
But for what I have now, my bike is running great.. I'm hoping to get the money together to get on Sam's list for a system after the holidays.

That is, by far, the funniest description both to read and visualize I've had the pleasure of laughing about in a while. It does, in an arcane sort of way, resemble 3 urinals. We never expected Triumph to actually mass produce a tuned exhaust system did we? In respect for my stock 'almost plugged' mufflers, some exhaust does issue from the ends, I can feel it and it makes the bike sound like a 35 horse Evinrude with a weed choked prop. Somehow, even after hearing Britman's, Pianoman's, and Rusty's bikes I still can't cotton up to a loud triple unless that triple is a 2 stroke with expansion chambers. For me, it has to be a two holer or a 4 holer, not a three holer. My Bonnie has custom mandrel bent headers and straight through pea shooter mufflers and it sounds, well, wicked. My Rocket sounds, well, I already described that plus the urinal.:D

I'm still chuckling.

:roll:That's a good one: three urinals  At least they're equidistant from the collector. "Log", yeah that's the term I was looking for. But choke-hold describes it without muddying up the message.

Pipes

That's exactly what I have on order
TORS Pipes, CAT-ELIM, K&N filter.
Hope this issue is cleared up before
I install this stuff, popin on decel sucks
sounds like a teenager tuning a lawnmower.

I guess I'm one of the weirdos that actually likes the pop...pop on decel. Seriously, does it hurt any of the mechanicals on the bike?

My dealer says no - the backfiring in the pipes doesn't damage anything. Triumph want to keeps it as lean as possible for emissions control but it's hard to see how they would sell a tune that would damage the engine.
