Busajack: nice picture of the timing chain. It seems strange to see JAPAN stamped on the side of our english bike's timing chain. I'll bet the keyway key has CHINA on it. Rademis

Thanks for all the info and the welcome. I'll be looking at the sprocket this evening. Wife's getting annoyed, spent a lot of time tinkering on the R3 this weekend - oh well, one more night won't make my payback any worse. Thanks again.

Ya Rad but I think thats better than the output shaft bearing not having anything on it.Mabey made in West algepecker.AHha. Key had nothing eather.

Thanks Busajack, took a look at the timing gear and all looks good. Poked it a couple times and seems tight. OK, here's a different approach - I have Jardines and remembered when I put them on having a vibration starting up. Thought it was strange there were no isolating rubber bushings where they mount on the frame, so I found some electrical bushings (good 'ol Ace Hdwe) and fabbed up some and it took out the vibration. Took a look at those and sure enough they were chewed up. Replaced them with new and the vibration has lessened, but not completely gone, need to make some adjustments. Anyone else notice a new vibration from the foot pegs when they installed their Jardines? I think when I hit a certain RPM, the resonation kicks in and tranfers through the frame. I'm going to keep at it, maybe that's the whole problem.Thanks again for all the help so far. I'll be curious if others have had the probem, I called Jardine and they do not offer an isolating bushing.

Interesting and you got my attention. Resonance shirley could be a factor. I'm curious as to what you've done to dampen this vibration.

Were the bushings, grommets??

H3..... I'm becoming Flip with the spelling thing and I hope you did it on purpose. It reminded me of the movie "Airplane". The one guy says, "Surely you must be kidding" and Leslie Nielson responds, " No, I'm not kidding ..... and don't call me Shirley" !

The construction of my USBuildings garage has run into a snag...Summer will be upon us in no time atoll. I'm hassled with moving stuff from here to there. I hope to break it to the better half before long re: RAA III.

It's pretty simple, but works. I got about 90% of the foot and seat vibration out. Don't know why I can't get it out completely, I was able to before, and this is a better setup.

You'll need to start with longer passenger foot rest bolts. Be sure and check the length to make sure they don't hit the swing arm when the shocks are compressed. I had to grind one down. The T shaped item is a "rubber grommet" from the electrical dept at ACE Hardware. The thicker flange of the grommet goes between the frame and the Jardine flange, the smaller flange goes through the hole in the flange and isolates it from the bolt and frame. Slide the bolt through, add an 1/8" thick large rubber washer and finish with a SS fender washer and SS lock nut. YOu might play with how tight you make it, I still haven't found out it you need to tighten snug or leave it a little loose to absorb more vibration. I also had to bend the left side flange in some to make sure the muffler didn't touch the drive shaft housing.
