My 07 Classic has started flashing me the red light when stopped in traffic under the MS summer heat (and dense traffic). It flickers--that is once the bike is no longer static & the air starts hitting the engine it goes off. The radiator fan IS operating. Can't see into the overflow reservoir, but it doesn't feel hot. Haven't ridden with the indicator light on except to get home a couple miles...taking it to the shop before riding again. See no coolant leakage, but there is a 'hissing' noise when I kill the engine (on hot days).

Any similar experiences?

thanks

Pull your shroud off and spray out/wash your radiator.

This was a common problem on my Hummer H1 coolant stack, a bit different since there were several different radiators stacked up and grime would get stuck between them, lowering the cooling ability.

Don't know if it's going to help, but it's a good PM.

+1 on cleaning out the radiator. I always clean them from the backside toward the front with (spray nozzle) on the garden hose.

I'd also pull the bearclaw and have a look see at the coolant overflow bottle and check your hose clamps. It shouldn't be hissing at all. Sounds like you are low on coolant.
