not really.. may look better that is all

Depends on what else is done to the bike. Power-Tripp showed a gain by exposing them on a bike with exhaust done.

with much time on my hands and a spare bearclaw when back home I will design a homemade claw using what is called a NACA intake , used a lot in aviation. we will see ( bill can you guess from where I am writing this post from??)

It depends as somtimes you need the clearance for the filters.

If nothing else is done to the bike then no or very very very little gain. Some filters require modification to the claw and some do it just for looks.
