You need to pull the two screws holding the little right side infill panel and take a peek to see if there is any oil back there. Easy job just two torx 25 screws.

Just a thought, the oil pressure sensor is mounted back there.... might take a look at that for a leak.

Hi guys, just trolling through the forum looking for oil leak problem and the photo that warp9.9 put up is where I have a leak coming from an its from all the weep holes. Just got some engine degreaser give a squirt and hosed it off. Come back after two weeks and can been seen on the block so repeat the cleaning.

Went to the shop last week was told that it had to much oil in the bike so changed the oil and filter on Saturday and only put 5.2 litres of oil back in so I know im running 200mls low have run about 200 kms since change but not checked if leak is back.

Is the shop right that it was too much oil or is something bigger wrong with it?

I've only had the 2006 classic rocket for seven weeks and boy I love it apart from the leak it goes really well.

If you have oil coming out of those holes, it's likely your cam cover gasket is leaking around the spark plug wells.

Thanks for that Rocket Scientist. Just pleased its nothing too expensive to fix. will price up the gasket tomorrow and follow the workshop manual to do the replacement.

Cheers from NZ

Was the question about too much oil causing problems answered?

I just went through that repair. In retrospect;
Left side leak = oil tank O-rings or leaky valve cover gasket.
Would just torqueing the valve cover bolts potentially fix the leak. How about causing a problem?

This is true remember the people who installed the gasket drink warm beer :D

When I finally get to the stage of installing the cam cover and Gasket, i was planning on using a drop of SUPERGLUE here and there to hold the gasket in place on the cam cover as we install it. Especially around the spark plug wells. I bought all new washers/seal for the bolts. Have a clean shot at observing the gasket and location of gasket as we install the cover (throttle bodys removed and coils) Plan on using the proper torque sequence outlined in the manual. I really hate leaks of any kind, so we are going to be very carefull and take are time. Having a really accurate torque wrench is going to just be a plus. This seems to be a problem area on the Rockets so it deserves the extra attention. ;);););)
