New Shift Pedals Anyone?

Roadsters would have the lever facing the other directionyielding a GP pattern.

Not necessarily a bad thing, I'll see what I can come up with later when I get home, the distances are very short.

That absolutely works, peg in front of shifter, pattern stays the same. No arguments there. But you do not have stock roadster foot peg location. Requiring much more work and cost than just the shifter replacement.

Nay, Nay, Amigo!
Look where the original pivot point is under the spline shaft.
Tis only and inch or less rear of the spline shaft.
It may require a slightly longer lever, but indeed doable.

Something must have changed for 2016 Roadsters from your year. All pivots are above the spindle with exception of the shifter mount pivot.

That there surprises and confuses the $hit out of me?????
Looks to me like the spline shaft location thru the case is the same.
What has been changed is the shifter pivot location in relation to the peg rail. Not sure how this affects the relative peg positions from mine to the 2016.

More dope . . .
The rails for the 2012 & 2016 are the same (T2087001) - so the pegs have not moved.
The shift assemblies are different.

The differences in our photos is that my rails are now from a Standard and the pivot point is forward of the Roadster rail.
The spline shift shaft has not moved. Changes from the 2012 to the 2016 linkage were made. The 2012 shifter connection was rear of the pivot and in 2016 shifter connection was forward of the pivot. There were no changes regarding the splined shaft or pivit locations.

Shifting directly from the spline on a stock R3R would require a different shift lever and be difficult, me thinks.

Ok, had to walk back to the garage. For some reason I was thinking the shifter pivot was mounted to the motor case, not the peg mount.

Yeah, thinking on it a bit, there is no good way to use a roadster peg position and retain the standard shift pattern if you don't have a linkage.

The current linkage was probably changed for shift quality. If you look everything is at perpendicular angles, it keeps forces going the right direction instead of having side loads, which can bend the shift rod and ruin shift quality. Any owner of a 2004 to current CBR 1000 owner will know the struggle if they ride their bike hard. The shift rods are long, and forces are not aligned properly. Nearly every single blade i've seen has a bent shift rod.

I was able to fit a used $15 Sportster pedal on my Classic. Did not want to alter the heel-toe stock shifter in case a new owner likes that set up.
