I've been looking for months. There's not a lot to choose from. Baxter Cycles is a Mecca for vintage British bikes.

By the way, I got this on an E-Bay auction. I researched the whole **** deal on how to bid and put my max bid in with 5 seconds to go. Baxters is going to do a complete checkout of the bike and if all goes well, I'll buy it and have it shipped. I'm going to have them install Rivco risers and maybe new shocks and front springs. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about Progressive 444, say, versus Hagon Nitro?

Looks to be an attachment plate for panniers to me.

I have ran both Hagon Nitros and now the Progressive 444.
I give the Progressive the slight nod because of the automatic damping adjustment and for the had twist spring adjustment features.

I had progressive 418 with manual dampening control. I had no idea what to do with it. I should probably go with the 444's.

The Yellow beast arrived last night and I'm getting it registered today. Rides great. The Jardines are hotter than the stock header. I thought I couldn't deal with the foot boards but they're actually pretty comfortable. The previous owner was 6' 6" so the screen is way too high for me. I have a smaller one on order. One thing I find puzzling is that it doesn't pop much on decel. Baxter Cycle said it didn't have a PCIII but I haven't looked yet.
