Ride
06 tribal - 13 roadster
Picked up my brand new roadster today. My other bike, a rocket 3 will be down for awhile and I couldn't stand the thought of not having a bike this summer. Some of you may know I have damaged the crank and rod/s on my 240 Carp rocket 'Pony". The roadster is my interim ride until 'Pony's fixed and I will decide later wether she stays or goes, but right now, after only 125kms, I have to say, I REALLY like it. I wasnt going to get it initially but my partner Tammy, insisted I get it.These are the three reasons I got it..One, its xmas, so its a present from Tam to me, and Two, she wants me out of her way and not mopeing around the house, sayin things like 'the boys are goin for a ride...wish I was going'.Three, a mate of mine was diagnosed with cancer,3 months ago.He died 2 days ago.Sealed it for me. I have named it "Shorty'' after my mate Dougie Whittle, who was a tough, cranky little bastard, with a heart of gold, genuine old school, hard working man, that hailed from New Zealands south island. RiP Shorty

Congrats on the new ride. May you and it always be "rubber side down".

Slick,

Very similar circumstances on my purchase of my Roadster. I was going through a long lived nightmare trying to get my Standard force fed. My significant other did the same and I bought the Roady to get me through. Sorry to hear about your problems with the Carpenter mod. Hope you get it sorted. I would be interested in the details as I was thinking of doing the Roadster with a stage 1 kit. I am hesitant to go with the higher compression of the stage 2.

Congratulations on the new bike, but I'm sorry for the circumstances which led to you getting it.

Good stuff Rick , stoked to hear you're back on two wheels. Condolences on the loss , them ol school blokes are getting thin on the ground these days. Merry Xmas mate.

Thanks guys. Its a long story but the cranks demise had nothing to do with the Carpenter upgrade.Simply put [and I don't do blame game/he did it/trial by Forum opinion thing] but......my dealer put 1.2-1.5 litres of oil in it, charged me for 6lts and I ran it. You know wot happens next ! The temptation now is to NOT void my warranty, or put the Carpenter upgrade into ''Shorty''.Put the Roadsters kit back into ''Pony''and keep her for back up, or for when mates visit ect...Warp, you have to visit Pedro and I now!!! The addition of ABS to the new Roadster makes it the logical choice .To be honest,i want to swap it out now, and f%#k the warranty....that idle/racey cam/crazy sound, the one that every Hardly guy comes runnin to see , down at my local bar,i want to have it again, so addictive. I have read, but not said anything, about the Carp stage 2 having no torque below 4000rpm...What??? really??? f%#k off!! mine will snap your head off, just off idle and all the way to 9000rpm.Only the BRAVE will do this, and yes, im not one of them--- yet.Could have something to do with my cams being more aggressive than Warps lol its my little secret/ours now, but I got a little bit more than the 240 kit, dont ask, coz I aint telling but I'm drooling @ the prospect of Japanese sport bikes for supper. Doug ''shorty''Whittle was a brawler, tough as nails little bastard, that would buy you a beer after trying to smash ya face in,his word and a handshake was what he lived by.In honor of the man, its only right that my "Shorty'',will live its life the same.Brawler,hard,honest,proud.RiP Shorty.

Rick, you're a sentimental bastard aren't you? Enjoyed reading this and got a kick out of the way you're paying homage to your mate. Hope one day to see that bike of yours - whichever one it turns out to be.

Rick's got that big f#ckin truck ... hang on .. he could cart all us West Australians over to Adelaide for RDU 2014. That way you'll get to see his bike Richard , and we get to party/sleep/polish the bikes/play monopoly in the back of the Pantech across the stinking Nullarbor ... what ya reckon Rick
