New paint job.. Plain gloss black or something different..?

El Bruto, what country are you in?

You mean what F^^kin planet?
I'm not going to argue with El Bruto.. dont care if you owned a body shop. Any jake leg with a shed can "own" a body shop. Dont care if youve sprayed synthetic, cellulose, 2k, k2, water base, free base, face paint, paint by numbers, yada, yada

Just to clarify for some of you that might be interested in knowing some refinishing facts:
This is not intended to display my vast wealth of knowledge , just to help others that may want to know.so hear goes.

FACT: When and why did automakers quit using laquer paint on cars? (best, driver) - Automotive -Sports cars, sedans, coupes, SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, tickets, dealers, repairs, gasoline, drivers... - City-Data Forum

FACT:There is such a product as clear lacquer.... WHY?? It HAS to be wet sanded thru many stages, 1500 grit, 2500, 5000, then buffed/polished - Not urethane, super slick, deep shine without doing anything to it.
The statement "lacquer/clear; same thing? MOST of the world uses urethane. Period.

"Audi/vw/mercedes clear coat"
FACT: those auto manufacturures dont "make" clear coat, mercedes uses PPG brand Ceramicoat.
FACT: GERMANY: New Mercedes-Benz nano-particle clearcoat offers ‘greater scratch resistance and improved gloss’

Of course different people will still have different opinions.
So when a post goes something like this:

"SHAT..! If you owned a body shop and are talking Lacquer............... That was in a time far ago ;) :whitstling: "

,the ;):whitstling::roll: means someone is messing with ya, not saying that it is not still in existence, just rare that it is still used. So if its what you prefer, GREAT

So I really am not interested in being SCHOOLED on what you have deemed to be the only way!

Call 1000 collision repair or even custom paint shops in the US & ask if they still use lacquer clear coat. 999.9 will say o_O what?????

Peace & chicken grease .........................................

correct Spain..

And EastTex.. No I wasn't some man in a shed, I employed 25 skilled people, We were insurance approved accident repairers, used mainly PPG and we were renowned for our restoration work.. In fact we had vehicles shipped to us in the UK from USA, Australia and strangely enough S.Africa.. 2 of our restorations were sold online and went to N.Z and Switzerland.. Such was the standard of our work.. So no.. I wasn't some guy in a shed..

Your stated facts..
VW/MERC.Audi.. correct it is PPG ceramicoat, but as far as I am aware no other manufacturers specify it on insurance repair work.

I don't believe I said at any point that manufacturers stopped using laquer/clearcoat?

I believe our cross purposes are possibly country/jargon related... Anyways, I don't care for your tone or attitude and I certainly don't take too kindly to be likened to sone guy in a shed aftr spending 30 - years in the refinish industry.. so I wont be responding on this thread any longer, don't need your kind of bullcrap in my life.

What I find about this thread is....2 guys that love what they do....

Eas Tex has shown what he can do with a paint gun and some paint. The pictures of his bike ....A true artist.

I would love him to volunteer to paint one of my Long Range pistol stocks.............Hint..... Hint :p:D

El Bruto post some pics. of some of the awesome paint jobs your shop has done...I am sure you have tons of them. I love looking at what true artist can do. For those of us that can screw up a spay can paint job....We stand in Awe of you Masters.

my tone n attitude are a direct response to your tone n attitude.
and no, you don't need to respond to this. our conversation is over.
And I will never apologize for being correct.
as my gentle feelings are now so offended, I will meekly sache off to my "safe place"
WAIVER: I'M JOKING
let's agree to disagree - be a big boy - peace, out! :cautious:

If Eastex is willing to do a paint job or two, I know a guy that can get some high solids urethanes and candies to do a killer lacquer job.

El Bruto

Tex showed he was playing with some of what he said by adding some of these to what he said...:D:whitstling::p:roll::laugh:

I got into trouble a week or so ago by not using more of these to show I was just joking..I made a guy mad at me that I think he lives less than 25 miles from me.

I took what Eas Tex said....was all in fun....until you both got flustered...........Come on Guy........Play nice:D:D:D

Maybe you should paint a few of those little faces on your bike El bruto, that would be a unique paint job. Where do those little faces come from anyway?

Joey, you are obviously a better man than I judging from your recent apology post. unfortunately I do not share your desire to make everybody happy (THAT IS NOT MEANT TO BE DEROGATORY TOWARD YOU) I just have a little too much Comanche blood in me, so, no I won't apologize for being correct.
thanks for the compliments on the paint work, that is actually the first paint job I've done in 25+ years as I just do not have the time anymore, almost never was able to make the time for that one :( - so am unable to take on any more paint jobs as much as I wish I could.
oh BTW.......... done a lot of really awesome custom paint jobs......... in a shed ;)

Tex..........

Dang.........I knew it........No paint job for me.............:notworthy::notworthy::(

Some of the comments I made............Did cross the line.........by not indicating I was Joking with a lot of these:eek::D:rolleyes::roll::p

Now.........if I feel that I am right on what I say.........I am like you........H3ll will freeze over before I back down.:p
