New paint job.. Plain gloss black or something different..?

I like two-tone paint jobs. The red/black on my Touring is great, I really can't think of anything nicer. Might have it replicated but a different red tone when it needs repainting.

Plain gloss black is just too plain, in my opinion, but of course it's personal choice and taste.

Pearl white looks REALLY good! But very hard to keep clean. I've seen some posts that you ride in bad weather often. So consider the amount of cleaning you will need to do. Also, Metallic colors hide dirt better than solid colors ;)

If you like the matte black look but hate the maintenance of a matte finish, you might want to consider a truck bedliner coating like Line-X or Rhino Linings. They're incredibly durable, won't get rain spots, and simple to clean. The look isn't for everyone, but I think could fit well with your bike. Here's a guy who did it to his ride:

Now THATS what I'm talkin' 'bout, Willis!

IDK, I find black shows everything, hard to picture white being worse. Still thinkin'.....

Yessir, That's right. As I said in post 19: Maybe consider a color that is not so high maintenance. Metallic colors, blues, greens, greys, silver, ect are low maintenance colors that hide dirt. Black & white are worse. Pearl white not as bad as straight white due to pearls are like very tiny metallics

Also, all "Candy" colors & "neon's" are just a tinted clear sprayed over a base color & the more coats you apply, the deeper/darker the color gets BUT, they will absolutely fade out if left outside for long periods of time (even on long, multi day trips where it is not stored out of the sun) - just some things to consider when choosing colors ;)

Years ago....before I was broke

I had a White Diamond STS caddy..... it was not to bad to keep clean as long as you did it not let it get filthy. I hand washed once a week. I did not drive it much in the winter.

When that car was clean............it was one of the best looking cars I have ever owned. I still miss that car.....LOL

The bedliner thing is tempting, pretty sure I could do a decent job myself, too, I'm probably not the right guy for an expensive paint job, I'm really hard on them. 20 colors, too!

As some of you may know I nearly wrote my bike off just over a year ago...
After many trials and tribulations its been back on the road and off again for a couple of reasons...
The guys that rebuilt it for me painted the tins and tank in satin black, but its been a bit of a nightmare maintaining it as its not very hard wearing...

Well while the beast is in pieces again waiting for the engine upgrade parts to arrive I have cleaned every square inch of it... and I was sat there looking at it and made a snap decision to strip all the tins off it and sand them down for another paint job... So.. all flatted and ready to go to paint shop... Question is do I just go for a straight gloss black, or something with a bit of bling..... Considering ive gone down the route of making the bike 100% Badass I'm leaning towards a straight gloss black... I know that's not as Badass as satin black, but that's just not feasible.. too much work to keep it looking right.

Picture below is how it came back to me in satin...

google custom painted triumph rocket. Lots to see. What ever color you pick, someone will have something to say about it. Just make it your own.

Well for sure the previous painter ain't going anywhere near it!!! I'm sticking with black, done in water-based paint, then gonna use audi/vw/mercedes clear coat... Its extremely scratch resistant.. I know, I used to own a body shop.. And it was a bugger to blend new lacquer into as it was so hard.. Had to use special thinners sprayed on to it to soften it prior to clear coating. . I intend to have the seat recovered with a small accent of red.. So staying with the red, and it won't be all plain black.
