New or used?????

Daryll, not sure if your asking my opinion or just a general question to everyone here? I have heard different prices, ranging from 10k out the door, and have seen as much as 13k+ advertised. I guess it would depend on how anxious the dealer is to move their product.

But overall, I agree with everyone here that there are deals to be had, especially in the new bike market - with warranty included.

The only way I'd believe anyone paid $10K out the door for a *NEW*, untitled 09 is if they showed me the sales order/contract.

I agree, 2009's are going for much more than $10,000. Left over 2007's are a different story. Shop around and find the deals!! Better hurry, winter is almost over and prices will go up.

I bought my '08 in July of '08 while still in the crate. It's a standard R3 in black, for some reason there were three guys other than myself waiting for it to show up. I paid $14,000 and got a small but honest deal out of the owner. I wanted it, he knew it and yet he was still fair with me.
From what I've seen in leftovers, a standard R3 is around $12,000, a Classic $13,000 and Touring models are all over the place in price so I have no idea on them. I would guess a Touring would be just a little more than a Classic, but it all depends on the market, time of year and how badly the dealer wants to set it free. If you find '07's out there, (they do exist new) I'd think seriously about not paying any more than what a nice used one sells for .... at that point you are looking at a very OLD bike and there are very OLD used bikes sitting around in garages with very low miles everywhere.
If you find one that strikes your fancy, you will pay whatever anyway ... so keep looking.

Well, I guess I stand corrected. I was just going from memory on some prices. Have read quite a few posts on what people have bought a new one for. Flhtpi said a new 07 for 10k. I didn't read back on the post, guess thats where I got that price from.

Anyway, just guess I will have to see what kind of deal I can work out if I do decide to get new.

Thanks for all helpful advice.

Yes that is correct I paid $10,097.00 out the door for a left over 2007 R3 Std with zero miles. My bill of sale was 11/27/2009. Man time flys, It seems like yesterday I picked it up.

You'll find the right bike at the right price. I find most of my bikes on Cycletrader.com

I bought my rocket new as an '06, the first with the black engine. I purchased $1500 worth of extras from Triumph right away. Since then I've put on Predators, nevs cams, triple k&n's, Tuneboy, PCIII, Six pot calipers, progressive 440's, progressive fork springs, Corbin dual seat, side mount license plate, Nev's lock up clutch, and new Avon Cobra tires. That probably makes a total cash outlay of over 20k. The bike has 10k miles and would probably bring only 9k on ebay. Some of our foreign friends have over 60k kilometers on there RIII'(go figure that crazy Kiwi with 40k kilometers, he must have circled that island a thousand times!) with no major problems. I personally have had no warranty issues. Of course I have had a few parts rechromed and alot of mods to unleash the beast. So why buy new when you can take advantage of the economy and pick up a cool bike for under 10k? Then you can take it to Carpenter's Racing and drop 6k on his 230hp kit, ride in ride out. The bike is like a Valk and will run forever, you just need to do some rejuvenation to the finishes.
