Yep, Ken. I think that I was closer to 320 at the Salvo. Down about 20 lbs now.

Ditto on the metz being safety hazard. There just ain't enuf rubber on the ground to stop the beast as well as a DS. Mine has saved my ass more than once.

Something I learned from my Dad many years ago, as he was a fan of skinny 10 ply tires on his F250, is that less rubber on the road translates to more usable traction/area on the ground. Big fat flat tires means less weight per square inch actually touching the road vs his theory of skinny equals more lbs/square in road contact for better traction.

Thoughts on this old theory translating to bikes?

Riken Raptor 225/55/16 at 30 psi. I'm 300lbs riding solo. 22,000 miles and no issues.

Dunlop D404 up front at 40 psi.

After you put about a thousand miles on the darkside, you don't really notice anything different about it. It feels natural.

I agree, I actually hit the twisties harder now. I guess it's more confidence.
Also a belated thanks T for all the advice in Leakey on the DS.

I've got the Goodyear Triple tread. Just got my bike back Friday ( In the shop for 3 weeks. I missed it SOOO much!). Road all weekend and never noticed a difference. I've only got about 300 miles on the Goodyear. But then, I'm kinda used to it, as I had the same tire on my last 2 Suzuki's.
I'm running 2 up with 32 PSI. Much more confidence that the Metz. Gettin' on it and hitting second on the on-ramps would get the rear to scoot sideways every time. Hooks up now and takes off. I've also noticed better mileage on this last tank of fuel. And don't even get me started on the "wet road" handling.
