My Rocket turning into a Harley ,,,,,,help,,,,

Throw a fuel stabilizer like STP in the tank and check air filter for proper fit/flow. It's choking on something, so it's either not getting enough air or not enough fuel (or potentially too much fuel?). Every once in a while I have a similar issue, and I think it's just this $hit fuel we have to use nowadays. Like I said, run a bottle of stabilizer through a tank and see if the idling/response smooths out.

The fuel filter is in the tank. You will need to remove the tank, turn it upside down, remove the plate, and then remove the fuel pump assembly from inside the tank. The fuel filter is then easy to replace. The OEM filter is about $50+, but you can get a whole bunch of filters that will fit and work from your local auto-parts type store, with prices from around $5-20.

A load of bad fuel can also cause those problems. You may want to remove the fuel from the tank and use it for lawn mowers or something.
Just assuming that the Mexican has a bunch of lawn mowers sounds a bit racist. :p

It could very well be the TPS is out of sync with the ECU and dumping more fuel then needed. I would definitely hook Tune ECU up and run some diagnostics and a ISCV. If it returns to normal keep a eye on it as the TPS might be getting worn in some areas. Also like Ian said look at the vac lines and stuff near the filters which you just changed to make sure you did not disturb something. I doubt you did as it would throw a code in the ecu.

Maybe not in his case, he does have a lot of lawns that needs cutting; a whole block's worh.

hey guy why don't you buy a fuel pump tester for the rocket and then we can borough it when we need one:sneaky:
if it is the fuel filter it should not affect it at idle. also if you have crap in the tank it usually works ok at first then gets worse as you drive more.
when a bike backfires it sometimes blows off the vacuum hoses. this makes the map read wrong. you can check the exhaust system by removing the 02 sensor or backing the bolts off a little to create a gap. don't lose your nuts when you go for a test ride.:)
if you just blip the throttle does it sound ok?
