My quest for the perfect seat

Ok, I for one, like the stock seat. The problem is I ride two up and the stock passenger seat is crap. Tried the gel seat, it's crap too. So now I have the classic dual with the drivers backrest. It is good for my passenger and good for driver from a padding perspective but not from an ergonomic perspective. It crowds me too much into the tank. I measured the seating area and the driver portion is 15" - 2" less than the stock driver seat, hence the crowding. That also explains why the passenger pillion is better - they get more room back there because it was stolen from the driver!
So now I thought I would try the corbin, but looking at the specs for their dual tour seat, it looks like it too has similar measurements as the classic seat.
Aside from going down the path of a custom seat or something like that, does anyone have any recommendations? I don't really want to use an air or gel pad. Anyone heard any rumors about any other manufacturers developing a seat? Mustang? Sargeant? anyone?
 
Aussiebikerdave had a custom seat made by Ultimate Seats (www.ultimateseats.ca) in Canada. Another Captain recently wrote that he'd spoken with them and they were making a Rocket III specific seat and it would be available by the end of the year. Davo's setup looks really nice and he swears by it.

Might be worth checking with them to see what their production schedule really is.

Ray, the driver's portion of the Corbin dual touring seat is 15" wide where you sit, 11" wide at the tank, 21" from the front of the seat up the butt curve to where the passenger seat starts and 15" from the front to where the seat starts to curve upwards behind your butt. It is scooped out somewhat for the driver and doesn't force me into the tank. Big improvement over the stock seat for both driver and passenger. My pillion hated the stock and gel passenger seats too, but loves the Corbin.

I don't have the drivers back rest but my lower back gets all the support it needs from the upward sweep of the seat before the pillion seat starts.
500 UK miles per day no probs. I'm 5'10" 280lbs and have a 332 inseam.
Pillions love it.

So you're saying to total length of the seat is 36"? Thats 7" more than the classic! The classic is 15" from the front where it touches the tank to the crest of the drivers seat where it curves up and the backrest goes. That measurement is just going straight, not following the contour of the seat. What is the comparable measurement of the corbin? no way it is 21" is it?
 
The Corbin is 15" from the front at the tank to where the seat starts to curve upward and then there is another 6" (following the contour) upward and backward for the back support.

So yes, following the contour it is 21"
