My quest for the perfect seat

so then the seating area of the corbin is no greater than the classic - I guess it wont work either. :(

1st: I test rode a 2007 R3 with get seat, MAJOR PAIN after 10mins riding!

2nd I Test rode another 2007 R3 with stock seat (touring), much better but still some pain after 35mins.

3rd I now bought an 06 R3 with Seat & pillion, much better than the above. I can now ride about an hour before major pain. Yesterday I rode 3 1/2 hours, some pain but was bearable.

About Corbin being hard. I also own a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500, when I first got it I couldn't ride more than 20 minutes. I bought a Mustang seat (very hard seat!) And at first it just doesn't feel right. But somehow your weight is spread evenly and I can ride 5 hours straight before starting to feel any stiffness.
Bottom line hard doesn't mean uncomfortable. It's the shape of it that's important.

I do a bit of cycling, and it's generally accepted in the cycling world that soft seats are less comfy than hard seats for longer rides. The theory is that you quickly compress any padding and get "stuck" in one position on a soft seat. On a hard seat you get used to it fairly quickly, and constantly make small movements so your backside gets a regular change of position.

If I ever have enough money I'd love to get something like this made for the R3 to see what it feels like:

I use Brooks saddles on my pushbikes, and after a while they mould to your backside and are extremely comfortable:

I too had seat problems. The stock seat was too close to the tank and bars and the bars were too straight. I bough a Corbin Dual Tour. It sits you back a couple of inches. That was great but, my legs still ached after a few miles and my back ached from having to lean forward to grip the bars. I added some risers from a Harley. They raise the bars 4" and bring them back 3", and I added some Harley “Buckhornâ€Â

mtnman: I'd love to see pics of your setup. How tall are you? What about your inseam?

Did you need to reroute the brake line and throttle cables with the risers?

I did the same as Mtnman...got the Rivco risers, but then got the Corbin dual touring seat which moved me back more so then I got the Classic bars and now all is well
