My mods so far
Well I finally got my rearsets made and the front end mods done now it is time to work out the bugs!
I put on lower, wider bars with VTX1800 risers, and made a new mount that lowered the headlights about 2" and mounted the gauges on it also. I was thinking about buying the Raask rearsets but I didn't like how they mounted the master cylinder and wanted to keep the stock pegs and pedals (although I had to modify them) so I made my own which I think look a little cleaner and I guarantee are mounted stronger than the Raask's.
I do have a few small issues, the gauges are a little too close to the headlights and vibrates at certain rpms and the really cool, lightweight aluminum shifter rod didn't last one shift (it really worked good on the lift in the garage!) so that will get redone asap out of steel although I was able to make a splint for it to get 150 miles on it on Sunday. The riding position is pure streetfighter with your hands spread pretty wide (the bars are 39") but for me it is much more comfortable and feels 200% better in the corners, I have much more control with my feet at the middle of the bike and I can hang off in the turns superbike style! I am really happy that all my mods make the bike look a lot better and work a lot better (for me anyway, most people would probably find it very awkward) it's nice to have form and function!
