update on rfid
Ok I going to buy in 10 units. These will come with two rfid cards or keys, that will be preprogrammed to unit. (I will try my passport too just in case and if it works can offer that service...!) I am afraid I checked out the range and you need to be within 5 inches of the reciever. you can get rfids that will read at larger ranges but they either use a lot of power or require batteries. i don't know about you guys but i have an alarm on my bike. what pisses me off is battery depletion during the winter. if it aint the bike battery (and i know you can buy a trickle charger), its the transmitter fob that loses its code cos battery went flat and needs programming. I think the bulldog thing is nice but I suspect it hammers the juice too. My solution uses 200ma!!!! thats a tiny amount of current when bike is not being used AND the rfid cards need no batteries and are very robust.
I am going to try and keep the price down to £99 uk equivalent or about $110 plus shipping of course and would post as a gift so no duty to USA. If you are seriously interested then send me a mail, I don't need any money till I am ready to ship.
The following will be the spec: black box with 6 wires, box will be waterproof, size 5.5 inches by 2.5 inches by 1.75 inches. the box will need 2 wires to be connected to a permanent 12 volts 2/4 wires in parallel or series with ignition, (depending on whether you still want to use original triumph key or not. box can be fitted behind a side panel, under and at side of tank. anywhere it will fit in secrecy. wires will be long enough to go anywhere, could be inside your pannier, or behind your fairing...
if you wire it in parallel. walk up to bike, place card near box, you will hear a beep and ignition will come on. press start button, bike starts. ride away...
place card near box again, there will be a beep, ignition off. walk away
in series you will need to turn on ignition via key and place card till beep and the same when getting off bike.
its as simple as that. will send out wiring instructions specific to rocket with units.
