I know this has been covered before, but I have the Triumph after market exhaust on mine and although it's louder than stock, I'm dissappointed it's still so quiet.
So, here in the Uk, there don't seem to be many Tourers.Triumph are useless, they don't sell many, so know nothing. I will probably go for Jardines at some point. Do any of you have a link for a sound sample of them. Can't track one down.
Do any of you have the Jardine, are there any problems after fitting? Do you need a tune?
How about the cat delete? Does it make any difference to the sound?
Have heard the D&D, don't sound that loud on the clip I heard. Thanks in asdvance for you help.

I have the Jardines. They are much louder than the D&D's they replaced. No problem fitting them. When you remove the stock mufflers, you remove the cats. They are in the muffler housing, not that little box. You will need a new tune.

Thanks. But what tune do I need and how or where do I get it. In the Uk there is no advise for things like this. What tune do you have?? My Triumph dealer is clueless.

Are you planning on making any changes to your intake? I have triple K&Ns so the tune I use would not be useful for the stock intake. At a bare minimum you will need the Triumph TORS tune, but with the Jardines you will still be running too lean. My tune is a Tuneboy tune so that would require Tuneboy on your end.

Your options are purchase Tuneboy, purchase a Power Commander and find a certified dyno tuning center in your area (not sure about the availability of those in the UK), or research and download the new TuneECU software. You'll also need an inexpensive cable to utilize TuneECU.

Wayne Tripp (PowerTripp) has posted extensive information on the new TuneECU software and is using it in his shop. He may be able to steer you to a viable tune for your configuration. We have a whole section here dedicated to TuneECU (and Tuneboy). Read through the posts in there and see if you are comfortable using something like that.

I love my D&D's, forget about sound clips as they are useless. D&D's have an nice throaty sound. Much louder than TORs. As a matter of fact I thought TORs were stock pipes on the demo I rode until the salesman told me they were TORs.

D&D's are much cheaper than Jardines as well. You can get them for under $600.

Go for the tripple K&N's with a TuneBoy as well! I have a tune for that combo. Runs VERY well.

If you want ear-splitting loud...you want straight pipes...

Get a set of Jardines and pull the baffles out... You'll be setting off car alarms in no time... attracting a lot of 'un-wanted/wanted' attention along the way.

Well, the thing is now, it's gonna cost me £2000 to get the Jardines, K&N, power commander and have it all fitted and set up. That's put me off a bit.
So I'll probably end up with th D&D's. I'm used to Vance and Hines without baffles on my vn2000, so it's just a bit too quite with the TOR's on. Thanks for your help, though. By the way, what's the quality of the chrome on the Jardines & D&D's?

From my experience the quality of the chrome is fine on both. One thing to keep in mind is no matter how much louder you make the Rocket, it will never sound like a v-twin.

My goal was to make what I considered a reasonable amount of power. I'm not crazy about the noise, but I am very happy with the performance. If you're just looking to make more noise, you may not like the quality of the sound coming from the Rocket with Jardines fitted. The D&Ds sound nice on the R3T (a bit quieter than on the Standard/Classic) and you can get away with the Triumph TORS tune installed by your dealer.

Try Wayne over at Mayors in Southampton for the dyno set up, really fair bloke.

Whereabouts in Dorset are you? I'm in Weymouth, not many R3 tourer's around these parts

If yo go with the D&D's and still think they are too quiet, I posted a "how to" on removing the baffles. I was runnin with one baffle as a compromise since removing them both is VERY LOUD! A slide hammer and hook puller is the easiest way to remove the baffles, they need to be securely mounted to the bike ... trying to remove them loose is next to impossible.
