Ok now I am confused. When we bought the roadster X that is what we bought A roadster period. If we wanted a touring bike we would have bought the touring model of the Rocket Three. I am kind of a simple guy but that just makes common since to me. I ride daily about 115 miles back and forth to work that works out to over 500 miles a week. Living in Oklahoma we can pretty much ride all year with the right cold weather gear. So we did not buy the bike for just sunday rides either but common since tells you the bike is by no means a goldwing (thank god) . For what it is the Rocket Roadster is one hell of a bike. I like the five speed transmission as much power as the bike has I find fifth gear on the highway just fine.

I have the Corbin Fastgun for a solo. No issues at all. Normal long day in the saddle is 5-600. I've stretched it to 800 a few times, but that takes it toll on my arms/shoulders/neck more than anything.
The ISO grips he's referring to are padded? Aftermarket grips a lot of guys use to take out vibration on the hands

My Fast Gun has the Alligator Black Leather and it is pretty stiff. I see in your avatar that you have the same seat with a different material on it. I will say the factory seat has softer material on it. The vibration in the bars never really bothered me. I do have a padded grip on the back, perhaps that is what has helped. I think my winter add on list will have the Rivco risers and the Rivco highway pegs as well as a Corbin two up touring seat. Thanks for the response Cardinal.

Hmm I dunno about that. I'm under the impression that a lot of people on the forum bought the roadster because it's a badass street bike that's very capable of longer runs. In fact the most common feedback for 'Should I get a Touring or a Roadster' is 'Which do you like the looks of better? Pegs are a little cramped on the Roadster if you're a taller rider'.

That said I did my first long trip from Denver to OKC on my Roadster:
1) Gearing hasn't struck me as an issue, even had problems with speed creeping up without me noticing it.
2) I wouldn't have the endurance to pull off the fly screen. I have an MRA screen and it reduces blast just enough to make me feel like I'm in the wind without exhausting me.
3) Highway pegs are definitely a must.
4) I got an Airhawk before I took off. Waited to put it on at the first fill up, then took it off at the next and kept up the pattern. I won't say I was 100% comfortable the whole time, but it helped out a lot and is waaay cheaper than a new seat. Especially since I don't have the opportunity to test a seat out before purchase.

Until I hit the lottery one bike needs to do more than one thing. I am planning a trip from Cape Cod to Dallas and I am not buying a touring bike for that trip. I bought the R3R because it is a R3R but occasionally we do some long rides and I need to make this bike work for that. Its really that simple.

@Rick Morris the trim on mine is the gator leather (imprint I'd imagine). Not sure the seat covering is the big difference though. Corbin's are very firm seats and don't work for everyone, much like soft seats don't work for me. If you don't find Corbin solo comfy, I wouldn't recommend the dual. I've got a Corbin dual tour for 2 up and don't find much difference (which is why I got it). You might want to look into a Russell day long or mustang or even the triumph OEM dual comfort seat? I don't know which ones are softer? There's several threads on here and opinions are about as diverse as which oil or tire to use?

I had a roadster and bought a russell day long custom seat. The bike always ran out of gas before i was ready to quit.
Now i have a touring and use the airhawk. To bad i had a knee operation yesterday i'd go for a ride.[3 deg.celsius]

Thanks again for your response. The advice here is always very helpful. I like the Corbin Solo I have for rides around 3 hours or so. I really dont want a super soft seat. Maybe if I eat some more Ice Cream and Doritos the seat will eventually work fine. I will look into the threads here. Thanks.

Cliff, which model Airhawk have you got and who happy are you with it. I just completed a 2500km ride in 3 days and at the end I was struggling to ride passed 200km without get off and letting my butt reshape.

Not sure of the model of airhawk. 18"x12". After having the russell seat i learned something about seats. I use the airhawk to support my thighs next to my cheeks. My tailbone does not sit on the airhawk but on the seat. I find this very comfortable.
