Little help please

So air intake you're thinking?
Can pretty much guaranty it is NOT.

If the AIT was disconnected you'd almost certainly have some running issues and probably the diagnostics light on (I have never tried). The AIT connector is up near the front of the tank and very short - so much so that Ramair supply an extension cable so the AIT sensor can be reposition near the rear injector. The POWER SOCKET connector is a standard "T" shaped 1/4" faston connector. That's not it.

It's the little one that has me stumped - I should have a free moment this afternoon to look. But it looks odd somehow - looks very like the tiny plugs that KOSO uses on their instrument accessories.

The clue is in the name - OBDII TYPE PLUG. It's just a block of plastic and you can put the pins and wires in that you care to use. As it happens Triumph chose to use the same power and data pin positions as the OBDII standard specifies. They could quite happily not have done so and royally screwed everybody.

The R3 uses what is basically OBDI protocols (KP2000 iirc). OBDII was built on OBDI so the common pids are the same - But in OBDI there are far fewer pids.

I have a pid about twice a night. :p

Oh there are running issues...its awful....several months ago I posted that my gas mileage had suddenly dropped to 20 MPG...Triumph cannot diagnose the problem...

OK - here is a view under my LH panel - had to use a phone to photo - my camera has died.
LHwires.jpg
Circled is the Evap Purge connector (which I use to trigger the PDM60) - This has a Pink/Black (Black to my eyes anyway) wire and a Red/Yellow wire.
As I thought - no sign of that little connector - I suspect something aftermarket fitted somewhere.

The AIT connector btw has a Pink/Black and a Pink/Orange wire.

Sorry to hear about the running issues.

i just purchased a powercommander v
it has a cable with those two connectors so i assume u hook it up and then u would have the two connectors left over like yours? i will look at directions and see if i can figure out where they go

on is the crank sensor that should hook up near the front forks.
the other is the o2 sensor connector. the kit has a connector w/o wires they use.
now there is an auto tune kit that has a wide band o2 sensor.
some of the guys can give u more info

dude that crank sensor connection is just above where the driveshaft goes into the engine. bit tricky to get to when installing PCV.

bit of useless info - that plug is also exactly the same as;
> the 'evap crap' plug (OP's photo, under LH side cover, as per barbagris)
> the air temp sensor plug (over behind coil #2)
> the coolant temp sensor (plugs in at top front of throttles)

@cj jeeper i've 3 wiring harnesses; an '06, a '10 and a '17, and that 3rd plug, the smallest one, isn't on any of them.
if you follow it's cable you'll find what it's for. something someone added to the bike.
