Kill switch, or not?

turning off

I usually use the ignition key to turn her off unless i am stopping at the bottom of my very steep driveway because i forgot something in that case i leave it in gear and kill her at the switch.
otherwise its nuetral and ignition switch with rear tire against the curb for me

I always use the key to switch off..doesn't the kill switch leave some of the electrics
active until the key is switched off..kinda remember reading that it does

I thought the reason for use of the kill switch is to be familiar with it's location in case of an emergency. I got used to using it on my softail because the main switch is so hard to do. Even though you still have to use it (ignition switch) or the headlight stays on. Yes I've come back to my bike to see the headlight still on. Good thing its a heavy battery!

According to the wiring diagram the kill switch and the ignition switch are in series, so it shouldn't make any difference which one is used.

The side stand switch, clutch switch, and gear position sensor all feed the engine control module. I've used the side stand to stop the engine too. Hard to say what the long term effects are. Probably not to bad.

Kill Switch

I use 'em all dependent on the geography and the situation. I like to periodically use the sidestand switch to make sure it's working, but generally use the key switch. Marty

Headlight?

Does the headlight go out after you kill it with the kill switch? I would go out to the bike and see, or actually would know if it were after 3/26/2011(the day I pick up my first "ROCKET"). I think the only reason for some of my replies(where is the spell checker?) is to keep me calm and educated from this Giant! But truely thanks for all answers and a wealth of knowledge. I am lucky to be a part of a great community. It has helped to make the decision of my purchase. Just wanted to thank all.

I used to use the kill switch all the time TILL I shut the bike off with the kill switch and forgot to turn the key off and killed the battery so now it's switch only
