K-drive saddlebags from NewR3

I'm came close to buying these when I was outfitting my second Rocket, I mean really close, but I couldn't do it, and I got the Triumph bags. They are good looking bags and the synthetic material looked real good, and the locking quick remove was good, too. But they looked too small compared to the Triumph bags. I mean, the Rocket is HUGE and has a big ass and needs big bags. My $.02 worth. 8)

"here's what the hardware looks like on the bike. pretty benign...but I had mine powder coated to match the fender rails, etc. Stock they're chrome plated." JRHorton....

Correct me if I am wrong......it looks like NewR3 is selling the smaller 39L bags. JR - you state you have the larger 49L bags. Do you (or could you) post a couple of pics of your set-up with a side shot. Trying to get an idea of where the footpegs (I have the floorboards from New R3) are in relation to the front side of the bags; and also where the back of the bags end in relation to the luggage rack (my luggage rack is Triumph OEM)

I am trying to get as much info as I can so the passenger is not too pinched for room, and also I have a T-Bag luggage bag (quite large) that fits on the luggage rack. It would be nice if the saddlebags would open with everything in place (I can only hope). Thanks...

Here's a pic, but I no longer have the passenger pegs installed...Mine are the bigger bags and I actually bought them through Directline Honda. I found an online price of $461 and they matched it, the shipping was free too. They sell them for the Hondas so they just special ordered me a set for my Rocket. I've been buying through them for about 10 years now...

I found the 150's at:

http://www.classiccruiser.com/product.asp?item=578680

for the same price ($461). I'm about to order these. Do they come with the bolts to mount the brackets?

They come with the bolts but they're not pretty. I replaced mine with chrome plated socket head bolts (special ordered because the larger bolts are an odd size (10mm x 1.25 x 90 mm at $11 each...ouch)...I wanted a nice looking contrast to the black powder coated brackets when the bags were off.

Thanks JR. I just ordered the bags.

I was checking the NewR3 site this morning and saw these bags. They look like a good buy. I bought the Edge bags and mounts but had I seen these, would probably have gone this way. The Edge bags/mount is exceptional but these have a couple of additional features (lock from the inside plus carry straps) and are about $100 less. Nice design.

Mike before you order checkout this site as they are available for a lot less of your hard earned.

I have previously bought gear from NewR3.com and was reasonably happy but as of late, (maybe because of currency exchange fluctations) I have found that it works out a lot cheaper to go directly to the manufacturer. i.e The Shorty exhaust they are adviertising for $1284 + shipping can be had for $725 + shipping) by contacting Dave Platt directly http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3DWatching
The Thunderbike inch and quarter oversize T handlebars are $210 from Thunderbike in New Zealand (NewR3.com price = $300 + shipping)

Best regards

Tony

Mike I'm assuming drilling a copuple of holes won't faze you, you might to also want to consider Easy brackets ($150) and Saddleman slant saddlebags ($150-180 depending on style/size chosen)
