I want a Custom Exhaust for my Rocket

Well I just went and looked. The chrome cover comes off easy enough and if need be I could shave a mil or 2 off the edge. The reservoir sits almost an inch inside the outer edge of the cover on a bolt that has about 1/2 inch of adjustment without changing anything except putting a spacer in. That would move the reservoir out 1/2 an inch and may be all that's needed. There's a small heat shield on the inside of cover and it should be easy enough to pack that with something like exhaust wrap to protect the plastic. Completely doable I reckon. I'll go down now and take some pics.

Edit: as can be seen in the pics below, it's not a simple matter to shave a bit off the chrome cover due to the heat shield but at worst it would rest against the pipe or could be bent a little. The bolt holding the reservoir is pressed in but a longer bolt could be put in it's place after a little persuasion. Can't see any reason why the header won't fit.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Good pics Richard... But I think you need to look at your brake fluid levels or check your rear pads.

Thanks mate. The pads are close to needing replacement (I have the next set sitting in the garage and will be changing them in a week or 2). I noticed the fluid level too, but it's fine. Bike is on the side stand in the pic. When vertical the level's just above half way.

Maybe an aftermarket reservoir (made out of something other than plastic ) would be advisable. Looks a lot like the Speed Triple rear reservoir .. can get them in alloy.

I would also like a header for my 09 Rocket 3 Touring, I just had the Carpenter 210hp package done but the carpenter header/megaphone will not fit on the touring. I currently have D&D's that id like to keep, but the stock pipes from the exhaust manifold thru the crossover are to restrictive.

Can't remember seeing custom headers especially to suit the Touring model (are they different to the R3R headers?).. maybe consider getting Carpenter to modify a set of theirs to suit. Could be easiest option for you.

Just purchased the ces racing pipe, 1200 and change for just a header pipe in 1 3/4, which will use any stock mufflers, tor's , d and d , etc. good people to do business with too. Complete system with muffler in a 2 1/4 pipe is around 1700 american shipped
