Sooooo, I go to my local dealer and order up a sissy bar and luggage rack for my new 08 R3T. I ask if the pad is included and am told emphatically... "yes"!

I picked up the parts yesterday and... what a surprise! Not only is the pad NOT included, but I also need to purchase a fender trim kit. I figured the pad was not part of the deal, but the trim kit? The assembly is useless without the trim kit.

Good grief!

I found that out the same way. Was told the trim kit was in the kit. It certainly is not. I ordered the kit from Bike Bandit. Another $50.....

Options

I installed the QR kit on my R3T. Here are some options for you:

1. Just buy the needed parts from your stealer, er...dealer. Sounds as if he's already led you down the wrong road, though....

2. Buy the needed parts on line (eBay has a couple listed). Better yet, buy from MADSS. Their prices are unbeatable. No kidding.

3. Modify your existing fender trim to function on the QR kit. It's not too much work with a Dremel or similar tool and you can find instructions by searching the threads.

Good luck. Tell us what you end up doing.

or you can do like i did and not get the fender trim with the bags on no one notices and it still looks good

That surprised me when I got mine that the Triumph emblem was an additional cost.

I got mine from a guy along with the gel seat, used. He paid extra for the trim, the gel pad and the emblem. I couldn't believe what it would have cost new for all of it, I problably wouldn't have gotten a sissy bar if I didn't find it used for half of new.

Yeah, I noticed the emblem was not part of the deal as well. What a crock! For the price you pay for this stuff and to have it incomplete is totally unacceptable. I am a Triumph fan (and will continue to be - this is my 5th Hinckley Triumph in the last 10 years) however.....

Triumph! if your listening, how about a break! At least sell the kits complete! ;)

I forgot to mention....

My dealer gave me a deal on the day long seat pad and trim kit so I am going that route. Just waiting for the order to come in. I should have it by next weekend.

(hopefully we will not have any snow by then!) :D

A guy could easily pay for the bike all over again just in Triumph accessories.
