How to make fueling smoother?


Perhaps you are over geared (too high a gear)?
You have 140 ci and the most torque of any production MC!
The off throttle transition is rather severe, especially in a hot twistie.
Throttle control is paramount.
 
Nothing is broken, clam down lol. Day two of owning my R3R, I noticed what you're talking about was annoying. Fix was disable o2 sensor in TuneECU, instantly smoother on/off throttle.

What you're feeling is a mix of two things. Harsh on/off transition caused by a lean condition at 0% throttle decelerating and then crack the throttle and it then goes little rich like it should. That sudden and sharp transition from super lean during decel, to normal fuel ratio when cracking throttle is curable with fueling and timing changes.

Adding fueling in L tables at 355,424,486 columns will smooth the on/off transition of 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th if your O2 sensor is disabled.

The OTHER problem is 2nd gear. 2nd Gear is an *******, straight up, *******. The jerky on/off is a result of the number of dogs being 1/2 that of the other gears, so there is a lot more slack to take up in the transmission, that lash results in herky jerky feelings when in the transition point between fully off and slightly on throttle. Nothing can be done to fix this, just adapt your riding by going to 1st gear to keep RPM up slightly and avoid the stupid idiotic retarded ignorant decision by triumph to cut the number of dogs in 2nd gear in 1/2 instead of just back cut the whole trans gearing!!
 

I totally agree about 2nd gear it is the gear I only momentarily use as I change up or down ,I get into 3rd ASAP ,I find that on my Touring 3rd and 4th gear are low enough to putt along at low speed and 3rd is all I use on roundabouts and low speed turns, maybe it is the Tune I had installed when I had the bike Dynoed after TORS and K&N filter and cat box (abomination) bypass pipe ,smooth as butter at low speed even two up open the taps at 60Kph in 3rd and it pulls like a Mack Truck
 
The triumph tune for tors is generic and certainly ain't perfect .
If you get the bike dynod you will see exactly what the fueling is doing and where .
The technician can then map the ecu to your requirements .
It transformed 1st and 2nd on my 2010 roadster !
 
If you're riding around town under 40 mph, what rpm do you keep it at?
 
I can't help much more than any of the others have, with the exception of using a higher gear. As mentioned, the R3 has plenty of torque, unless I am planning on shooting through traffic in a hurry I am usually in 4th all the way down to 25-30 mph. If i am shooting through traffic 2nd gear with a healthy dose of clutch control keeps me out of that jerkiness.
 
Personally I usually keep it spinning over 2000, normally at or about 2500 when just cruising around.

When playing I hang it more in the 3300 range, right where she gives the biggest punch when going WOT.

I don't recall you telling me about having any issues but that was some time ago and I was only doing minor changes to the Stock tunes, can you send me the tune I sent you and I will send you a later version with a few fixes I have made to hansoanno@bigpond.com please include your forum name as I am constantly chatting with others about various issues and making changes for them.
As others here have mentioned second gear is just a pain, also I found that a slight bit to much slack in the pull throttle cable will cause some jerkiness coming of a closed throttle also if the TPS voltage is not set right on .6 it will also cause the ECU to send incorrect amount of fuel.
But please allow me to see if I can not help with one of my more recent Tweaked tunes
