Hill Hold feature

I tried pushing hard on my rear brake to enable the hill hold, I was unable to get the hill hold with the rear brake. Only the front brake enables it.

That's because the ABS ECU is looking for the front brake switch, not the rear.

It's not a feature i'll be turning on, and then by doing so, have to put faith in some extra bit of tech that I just don't need.

Perhaps if you have some sort of disability then perhaps this feature can help, but my hands and fingers work normally, so i'll just do things like i've done them.

I've never, in all my 50 years of motorcycling thought to myself, I need something to do the job of holding me on a hill, because fortunately, i've always had brake levers that control the brakes.

I can even change gear by using the clutch & gear lever..........it's amazing....I must be a very gifted and blessed individual.

I find it is 'handy' to have it turned on and use it. My driveway is sloped (like most are) and it's just convenient to pull up to my garage door, set the Hill Hold and then actuate the garage door opener in my right pocket. On my other bikes I have to put the bike in neutral, put the kickstand down and set the bike on the stand to keep from rolling back, then go for my opener. (I'm not limber (i.e. young) enough anymore to hold a bike up with just my left leg and hold the rear brake with my right foot and let go the bars). It simply removes extra steps to park my Rocket in the garage, i.e. it's 'handy'.

That's sounds like a convenient use........A garage door opener button on the handlebars would be even more convenient.
I suppose if someone has forward controls, it's not ergonomic to utilise the rear brake when your right hand needs to be used for something other than the front brake.
Mid controls make the rear brake more practical as a temporary hill hold function. I wouldn't want to do it with forward controls....

I do something similar. It makes it easier to turn on my camera and put on my gloves while on the sloped driveway, when I forget to before getting on the bike. I never use it for its intended use, but it's also very helpful on a slope when I need to use both hands or where I drop something and need to bend over to pick it up. Given it's just programming and a solenoid, there's no reason not to have it. It's also particularly nice after riding for 160 miles straight to stand up at a light, relieving my sore arse, and shake out my hands at the same time.

I generally use it when I pull somewhere to review my phone notifications, not to be afraid that the bike will move under me when both of my hands are occupied, I engage the hill-hold. This way I don't have to spend extra time to review the conditions under the bike to gauge the safety.

Yuppers. Mine is a GT so I get your point. The door opener on the handlebar would be better, but now how do I incorporate that into one of my switch cubes?

That's nifty, but not an OEM switch cube. The upside is it would remove the opener from my pocket (if it works on my doors (90% isn't a guarantee)). Now do I want to buy 6 of them, hmmmm?????
