Each to their own. We should never trash-talk another's ride, even if it is a blinged-out 50cc p1sspot or a Confederate Hellcat parked in a man cave and never gets ridden. And we should play the ball, not the man - as said in rugby. I find that I mostly ride alone now, for that very reason.
I have been riding bikes for thirty-nine years now, wrenching my own (and others) most of this time. I have owned more than I can truly tell, and I am lucky enough to have seventeen (17) now. They fill my two double garages and take up more than half of my daughter's. My wife's Beemer lives under a carport and my VW van under a tree.
I grew up when Triumphs were better known for their oil leaks and electrical problems, and the CB750 had just arrived, to the detriment and eventual collapse of the entire Brit bike industry. The previous Rocket-III's never appealed to me - that was just me. But when I saw the 3R, I had to have one. It is one of my favourites now. It simply ticks so many boxes. Kudos to Triumph - they are really building some outstanding machines now. Let's hope Norton finally recovers to its earlier glory as well, as Indian did under Polaris.
