Hill Hold feature

I'm curious about how all of this hill hold functions from front brake lever to rear caliper.
Short answer, "BRILLIANTLY." After replying to this thread it made me curious enough to see if I had that little nugget on my '23 GT and sure enough I did, and it was 'disabled.' So being the intrepid barn fowl excrement I usually am when it comes to computers I took the plunge and "enabled" the feature. Last weekend out riding with son-in-law Tom, we were at a stop light in Grapevine on a slight up slope and I hit the front lever hard enough to get the "Hill Hold" light lit on the TFT and let go the brakes. I then directed Tom's attention to the fact I wasn't holding any brakes and was stationary (while he had to keep the front brake mashed on his Speed Triple to keep from rolling back) and got the oh so satisfying rebukes of his jealousy. I do so love evil smirking under my helmet.

Buttons buttons buttons, safer and easier by the day, i guess you cant stop making life easy. Motorcycles are not what they use to be, when the rider was the button. I guess im just jealous, but soon anyone will be able to ride a motorcycle that wont even fall over. Hill hold, whod a thunk it, i thought thats what clutch and brake was for.

It works the same on my Lexus LS, push a button and you don't need the brake pedal anymore when stopped to keep from rolling.

It might be a good thing that i've found this thread.
I was doing a bit of house hunting last weekend and I liked the place, but it's was 'a bit steep', so hill hold might be needed..... :whitstling:

So, the manual says (page 101-102): "Hill hold control does not activate where the motorcycle is on level ground or facing downhill." I have not tested it downhill, but it activates on level ground no issues. Don't know why the manual is lying.

So, the worrying part: "Do not continually activate the hill hold system for periods of longer than 10 minutes. Continuous activation of the hill hold control system for periods of longer than 10 minutes may cause damage to the ABS system." Two things to consider, where I need to use it, the hold requires around 10-12mins, I live where we have a lot of bridges that open up, while they are letting ships come though, you are sitting uphill. So, if I overstay 10mins (who knows when the damage occurs, maybe 8mins - who checked?), I can damage ABS? What a bad design. Thus, I am afraid to use it where I need it the most. The way I read it, use it for more than 10mins, pay $1000 to your dealer for ABS replacement. Is it a good system, $100 per minute of use?

In addition, it says that the hill hold system can deactivate due to internal fault. This means that you can start rolling back without a warning, likely causing in a crash into a car behind you, or laying down the bike with you on it.

To me, it seems such a gimmicky system. Not made for the realities of the world.

Quick question: Are you suggesting that you sit idling the engine for ten minutes?
