Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums, so bear with me !

My 2008 Rocket Standard recently developed a miss in first and second gears, at first it was under hard acceleration but more recently it was present at all times but only in the first two gears. Today I went looking for the problem, pulling out the map sensor and unplugging any connectors I could see and cleaning them. When I put it all back together and took it for a run, the miss was gone from first gear BUT still there in second gear. In all other gears it runs fine. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms.

Don't know mate! Not had this problem, I can only say that there is a limiter to prevent over revving, I have reached it when accelerating hard, but not often (I tend to change up well before hand), however if the first gear problem has gone then I guess it's something else. There will be some Rocket Guru on the forum who has the answer.

Did you clean and tighten the low tension leads on the coils? There are three coils, #1 being right at the front and a bit of a PITA to get to.

Another thought is the fuel filter. How long since it has been changed? If it is a bit clogged then it will show up under hard acceleration, and more so at higher revs - which you may not be getting to in the higher gears.

Do you have either TuneECU or TuneBoy?

I had a misfire under hard acceleration after my 04 Rocket's engine had been removed for work at the dealer. I eventually traced it to a loose plug where they are all bundled together behind the headstock., under the front of the fuel tank. The wiring had been thrown together, one of the cables going to the handlebars had been stretched and it was enough to pull the plug slightly under acceleration. I just made sure they were all routed tidily so as not to put any stress on the plugs, made sure the plugs were connected tight and there was no pull on the cables when the bars were on full lock. End of problem. So if you, or a previous owner, has been under there and disturbed the wiring at that point, or fitted rivco risers which can pull the wiring it could be worth a look.

Thanks for the response and suggestions, most of which I've tried. Today I think I'll pull out all the connectors and clean them thoroughly and make sure they're all tight, after yesterday, having cured the first gear issue, I guess I'm fairly close to the problem !
