I keep coming back to this thread wanting to learn more about Hagon shocks....
Tricked again!

FWIW, I slept in a Holiday Inn one time . . . and Dave Quinn has the Nitros for $544 the pair, and will ask for what kind of riding you do, and what kind of load you most often carry (this is not the time to provide the weight you would like to have), and he says "You're 'X' on the list and I have orders for six, I'll put the orders in."

By the way, Tripp used to be on this site and sold parts and he used to provide Hagon Nitros.

Back to Dave and current time, I was third on the list and it was several weeks later the double box showed up.

This may be totally wasted in my case, but thanks to @barbagris I had the RaceTech Gold cartridge emulators and replacement springs done in the front forks, and thought I was riding a different (much better) bike on the way home. So thinking I could feel that improvement, I thought it worth trying the rear. One silly note -- the top yoke on the Hagon is the same size as the the bottom, whereas the stock top yoke is considerably larger -- talking outside diameter here -- the bolt holes are absolutely the same. So the stock washer on top is oversize for the Hagon, something I hope to have rectified before Stearns.

SIMPLE

Bulletproof construction, I have evidenced very few leaking except at considerable mileage

Ride quality is commensurate with the low price, nothing stunning. As with anything you get what you pay for. The rougher the roads ( and we have a high ratio of them here in NZ ) the more the suspension gets challenged and the greater the need for ( higher cost ) pedigree level suspension providing greater levels of ride comfort and chassis control.

okay...i hate to ask but here goes.
how do you feel hagons fare vs progressives?
i understand with an unlimited budget i can do better but the $600-$700 is already stretching my budget.
which one would YOU go with if you're currently riding an '05 w/original rears.
thanks in advance...

I personally would not choose either . But the build quality and longevity of Nitron is way superior to Progressive, made with cheap labour in Mexico.

My suggestion, would be to save for another month or two and jump to either Wilber’s 640s, Racetech, or custom Nitrons.

The ractechs probably being the best of the three.

i think what i'm learning here is that i can't afford real quality right now.
i was excited about the progressives (while throwing up in my mouth about price), then i read about hagons, then wilbers, racetech.
just when i make a buying decision, someone throws a cold blanket on my selection.
i believe what is being posted here and understand about quality costing more.
my budget limits should not force me to go cheap on an important handling and safety system on the bike.
perhaps i upgrade a bit now knowing a better choice is out there for the future.
