If you look at the video picture Pica linked you'll see the black dust cover doesn't cover that recess in the wheel hub. Also the work shop manual shows it looking like your installed rear wheel.

I had the rear wheel axle nut fall off and the axle partially back out and I didn't crash, I knew something was off when making a turn and the bike rear end stepped out. Rear wheel lockup on the Rocket is normal under hard braking so at worst you'll slide a ways. Cheers. This bike is all new to me. Therefore, the basic questions. I've ridden a lot of different machines. My other bike is the CBR1100XX for when I'm feeling very naughty. This Rocket has been mildly looked after by the previous 2 owners, so a fair bit to do. Plenty of silly questions coming from me. I do plenty of research before asking, though. I'm not lazy in that department. Just to say thanks to all who advised me.
