Before I bought mine I made sure I knew what tune I had, then checked out that tune to see if the secondaries were completely open in 4th and 5th, confirming that I bought the gipro and it has produced the promised performance improvement. Just buying a gipro hoping for the best is a crapshoot. I agree though that there should be an advisory by the manufacturer to find out how your bike is tuned BEFORE you buy the gipro, otherwise all you may get is just a gear indicator.

Even with that I wasn't able to absolutely confirm beyond a doubt that the gipro was doing its job till I wheelied up high in first gear. I have also confirmed that I am getting about 3 mpg better gas mileage on the average, after now having put about 1700 miles on the bike since I installed the little critter. It doesn't get any better than that, more power AND better gas mileage....whats not to like?

Even if you are not going plug TuneECU into your bike and fool around with it, download it anyway onto your computer, find out what tune you have from the list of tunes on this site, then input that tune into TuneECU to get your tune readout.

I don't really need (or want) the gear indicator, since my 2011 r3r has one in the cluster. Any suggestions where to hide it?

Its gotta fit under the seat somewhere, especially if you have the triple filters, you can just put it where the old filter was. It would probably fit under the tank too. Or, inside the side covers.

I have a dealer installed 20227 tune, I run stock filter & pipes w/ cat eliminator... I can crack the throttle and I bring it up to 4000 rpms and I hit 80 mph inthird gear,,, but I was doing that before gipro, however I do enjoy the gear indicator :)

That tune has the secondaries fully open in 4th and 5th so the gipro should work just fine. Sorry that you see no improvement, oh well. I wasn't able to wheelie my stock bike before the gipro.

RPM and top speed in a certain gear isn't going to change even if you had a turbo and nitrous. I'm not understanding what kind of measurement you are using as a comparison, but those two won't tell you anything other than gear ratio.

I could be wrong but some of the std triumph tunes actually partially close the secondarys in 4 and 5 gear:confused:or so I have been told

no measurment actually, just a seat of the pants comparison,, I have never fully opened the throttle at the start of any gear, I just keep opening until its time to shift,,I guess I,m afraid I will damage the drive train somehow:confused:

They do, that's the problem I was referring too. The factory TOR's tune for sure partially closes off the secondaries, I noticed a drop in power right after they loaded it in mine before I knew better. I confirmed it by riding with the claw and intake plenum removed and watched the secondaries operate. The **** things lagged behind the throttle and would slightly close while cruising. Seeing that is what made me take them out right then and there.

Adding a GiPro and removing secondaries was a revelation. It does go better but the thing I liked the most was the smoother throttle response. I also have the TORS tune so it makes sense that the improvement is more noticeable. Can't say what would have happened had I done one and not the other as I did them at the same time but it was simple and cheap and effective. What more do you want?
